    RB25 - No boost..bogs at 4k....videos inside.

I thought i would also post this here... as its generally more active that the Skyline forum. But its RB, not SR!

    -----------------------------
    Hi guys.

Finished my S14a - RB25 swap, and im left with some vacuums i've bunged off with bolts.

Currently im getting no boost or rev over 4k RPM. Im pointing blame at my vacum hose plumbing. Can you guys have a look at the images below and identify what's what?

Engine is from a R33 GTST and bog standard until it runs right before i'll modify. Only thing it has is a FMIC, 3' Exhaust, and a air filter with a MANUAL boost controller.

#1 - On the throttle body? - Where should this go?

#2 - Rear of the inlet manifold. Tiny little one. - Boost gauge source.

#3 On the standard Recirc piping.

Then this is how iv got my manual boost controler and standard re-circ valve plumbed in. Which i think isn't right?

Basically. She will run, idle and drive but only up to 4k rpm. Its like a wall anything more.. and it wont rev and dump etc.

Scratching my head on this one! :bash:

Having had a google. The wastegate needs to come off the IC pipework.. So..

    Intercoole T - into MBC ... - into actuator.

How can i get a pressure source if my intercooler has no hole for a VAC? - The bit that had the nipple just before the throttle body has been cut off! As iv done custom piping!

I've got a front facing plenum and an s2 engine (obviously yours is s1) but I can take some pics of mine for you to try and trace.

Mine had a take off on the bend left hand side just after the turbo, it's underneath where you can't see it

No help on the plumbing part but I put something like this in my ic piping pre cooler to tidy up the vac lines

    Look at this on eBay:

I just connected all my vacuum pipes to the most convenient place.
The one off the Throttle body should go to a vacuum.
The one from the back of the inlet plenum goes to the fuel pressure regulator. (Is this connected? this may stop it revving)EDIT: Taking shite wrong side of the plenum....sorry.

Mine is also S1 RB25 so if you need me to check anything let me know. It does have a greddy style inlet though.

Here is a pic of mine if it's any help. (It is cleaner now!)

Oh and if you want to keep it cool get that viscous fan on! Mine didn't like running electric push fans, so I had to get clever with a grinder and a thinner rad!

    The one on the rear is blanked?.. But there is one on the front going to the FPR im sure... see below;

Still a mess.. but ill fix that when the blasted thing boosts! or goes above 4k RPM!!!!

was it running ok before the install? OR do you not know?

Does it rev higher when you feather the throttle?

Yeah it was ok, i even drove it as auto for a laugh around the industrial park where my skyline guy is. Just cant get it to him to look as hes flat out!

He's just text me and said unplug the AFM out the air filter and try again.

    EDIT:

Only video i have.. but watch me pull the throttle cable and your hear it holding at 4k bouncing.. (Sorry about fan noise i had both running as it was idling for a good hour!)

Did you earth the coil packs well? i.e. clean connection on the earth wire to head under the coilpack cover

    http://www.partpal.com/partpal-in-print/view/32

Also that silicone hose doesn't look like it's on very well coming from the turbo outlet.

Ok. Disconnected lamba - No change

    Disconnect AFM - No change.

    Really out my deph

I took 2 videos. Very slow driving trying to build gradually. Ignore my discs. My fronts are absolutely destroyed from sitting for a year! If you try harder it'll jolt.. It's odd

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/lr4nxh4t1a...%2041.mov?dl=0

Can anyone bloody help. I'm scratching my head. To top it all off Iv now found a water leak coming from the rad. So now I have to rip that out and find out why it's leaking....

One thing after another. Does anyone have a large hammer or a flamethrower I can set it on fire with????

I'm thinking either the ecu isn't see in the AFM signal potentially wiring related?
Or. I have a big split on my turbo intake as that was still standard or a split in my silicone pipes...

Its almost like a boost leak the more I watch the video.

The coil pack was earthed well, I removed and cleaned because i didn't want the hassle of having to redo it haha!

Have the pipe been pressure tested? Possibly a leak opening up once there is a bit of pressure

    Pipe work is too long

first you need to use blanks for pipes your not using bolts dont seal.

second check all your ic joints /remove and seal with the misses hairspray make sure they have a decent surface area to clamp. Check the wastegate while your at it.

are you sure your fuel pump is providing enough juice?

turbo stilling freely spinning and not got debris or oil starvation?

    Mbc is correctly set up?

If you blank off at the air-filter (tin of beans? ) and then take off one of those blanking bolts so you can blow into a spare air-pipe, then it should be like an incredibly stiff balloon (the air can't really go anywhere).
Find any massive air-leaks then pressure test it properly to find the tiny leaks.

Its fine, similar length to FMIC setups on R33's but I couldn't agree more. Needs a front plenum.

I am watching silicone bungs on eBay. I'll buy them, in my defence I only used them as I had 0 other options at the time!!
    On the pipework & intake!
Good question on fuel pump as I was told its a walbro, but I've never confirmed that. It does whine loudly.. - Will check

I'll check turbo spins. Ill whip the OEM pipe off. God I hope its not the turbo!!
