    Ca18 death rattle?

Got a rattle between 2.5-3k on my ca18.
Only happens going up the revs on steady acceleration.
    Goes away when warmed up.

Big ends, or a dodgy lifter?

Usually lifters rattle on way down and not at that high revs. Without hearing it it's hard to say though. You could upload a video or drain the oil out the sump and see if it's OK.

BE bearings tend to start rattling from ~2k and are most noticeable at about 3k, with the bonnet open and engine running slowly build the revs by hand to see where it is most noticeable.

Also do as dastardly said, drain the oil and filter it through an old tight or something and see if there are any gilings in the oil.

If it stops once warm, i'd doubt its a big end issue.

I'll do a video next time I'm out. If I have my helmet on the noise goes away so that means its not that serious, lol.

I have videos of my engine knocking on two different engines
the first was mains and rods
the second is suspect big end if this is any use, gets worse when its warmer and at higher revs

Not driven the car for 5 months! It's back on the road in February, I'm sure the noise will still be there lol
