So, if your not a drifter, what are you?

This was a question posed to me earlier today by a random dude who i saw having a nosey at my Prelude. I thought he was up to no good but he was just interested in my car so was having a ganders ( guilty of doing the same myself)
Got to chatting and was talking about by S13 project when he pipes up ' oh so your gonna drift it and be a drifter?'
I explained i wasn't into drifting and just wanted to build a fast S13 that handled really well. This seemed to confuse the poor chap who couldn't understand why i wasn't going to drift my Rwd nissan, which led him to his rather strange quiestion, one i have yet to answer. So if I'm not a drifter and want to build a fast S13 that handles well, what's the name for that? 😮

standard question for me "do you drift it?" I always say no which makes them look at me like I'm a waste of space who doesn't even know what his car was made to do

That's the thing. The car wasn't made to be a drift car, it just so happens it's quite good at being one.

I get this all the time aswell, does my head in. "You've got a 200, why are you not gonna drift it?" I just don't get the idea of having to drift a car just because others do it.

grip/time attack could include track day cars and hillclimbs as well,an s13 on here was doing pretty well recently (ish)
Drag racing they do very well,often see them in rolling drag races in the US/mexico
and even off road ralling s13/s14/s15, (s14a rally car in Croatia for sale currently on here) not as fantastic as the 4wd stuff of course
but do alright in a tail wagging style ,and seen them doing autocross in the USA as well,its a good all round car imo

or 'trapped' - too many years and too much effort to want to part with it, even though I know I could buy something 'better'.

Helps that, after a week in a Golf or a Mondeo, it feels like a go-kart, is great fun to drive and rather rare now, so I can convince myself I'm driving a bit of 'retro cool' (not my words )
