    S13 engine won't turn off...

    Hi to all,

Strange thing happend this morning started car and off i went arrived at my destination.

Turned the key off but all dash lights stayed on and the engine still ran had to stall it to stop..

checked relays in engine bay all clicking away..same as one one behind fuze block drivers footwell.

could it be the Ignition switch?

    Cheers

    Andy

They keep the engine running for a set period of time after the key had been removed

I would be tripping out lol

But yes it's not unheard of for ignition switch to fail, have you tried it since? Did it start and stop ok?

It starts fine just won't switch off,you can remove key and walk off lol....I pull the 25 amp engine control fuze in engine bay so the ignition lights turn off then put it back in for normal driving

I'm sure jw, andy or skyshack may be able to shed more light on it but does seem like an ignition switch fault.

Might be worth starting it then just unplug the ignition barrel under the dash if it stalls it's most likely the barrel if it carries on its prolly a relay welded shut on the ignition live circuit

Yeah maybe the barrel is at fault and can't pick up the key position

This sometimes happens when your tire rubs through the loom under the wheel arch.

On lowered cars with wide rims/tyres.
