Just personal preference. They all do roughly the same thing and to be honest the functions that make the electronic ones cool you never really use in real life. I mean who uses low boost anyway lol.

Last time I was using forced induction, I used a TurboSmart. Had some nice features like being able to control the rate at which the wastegate opened, but once set, it's not something to continually mess about with.
Where ever you go, never take an idiot with you. You can be sure you'll find one when you get there.

I have a Gizzmo and can recommend one of those as a cheap but effect little device

The Apex'i AVC-R is supposed to be really good.

Consider also a GReddy Profec B.

Mines in low boost most of the time, rarely need high boost tbh.

The gizzmo is an amazing bit of kit and it's so easy to set up and holds boost really really well. AVCR is a pain in the arse to set up and L16JAY's S14a boost so much better on his gizzmo than his old AVCR

    Me.

You put it on low, play with the Type-R's. When they come up with all the excuses you just say.. "well i was on low boost anyway".

Imho the best setup for me with my old sx was a decent ball and spring job (bren device) with an adjustable actuator.
Work great and was miles better than the evc3 i had as well.

Go manual and leave it at full pelt.

dont manual controllers spike the boost ?? ie if youve got it set to 15psi it will spike to 17 and then level to 15 ?

I had a manual, and the boost came in hard and strong (lag lag lag booooost).

Then I swithced to electronic; much more progressive.

The former felt faster, but I'm sure the latter is actually faster. Saying that, I actually preferred the torquey feeling of the manual.

Use an adjustable actuator to set a pretty high base boost (say 14psi) then use the ball valve for 2 or 3 on top which will also bring in a nice surge lower down.
    Wont overboost or nowt.

I always liked the bigger rush as the blow ramped up aggressively.

So basically the same as saying you don't use the functionality but just in queer mode instead

I had an AVCR and always struggled with it's complexity. I'm a bit thick, but I'm a (poor)coder by trade, so it shouldn't have been too alien
Now have a Profec B and find it much more user friendly.

Loved my old gizzmo msbc for its simplicity and ease of use/setup but also loved my avcr for the 'cool' features and jdmness.

Im sure there are newer boost controllers on the market now that will combine the best of both.
