not teaching you to suck eggs or anything but try and take a look at the inside of the chassis rail that runs above the exhaust - mine was pretty bad from being rather warm and rather wet.

not sure if dynax from the inside would get to all the worst bits.
    white '94 s13 200sx scrapped - mapped to 1.45bar. OS giken box, garrett GT2876R, 950cc injectors, ORC twin plate, nistune. 349bhp/325lbft @ 1.3bar CA18DET
white '96 s13 180sx - type g with more kouki bits - RB25DET, GTR steel twin turbo conversion, RB26 crank & rods. 2.6L VVT twin turbo, SR20 OSG box, OSG STR twin plate clutch, Z32 ECU w/ nistune.

current status: 180 a bit broken but to be repaired.

7 hours of blasting and wire brushing.....

Can be difficult to see when blasting. This lamp helps

Then sprayed it with 2 coats of Electrox primer

Quite a large chunk of the back end done now

Winter is the worst time to do it, unless you have a garage, good light and a good heater!

I have the shell on these axle stands under the chassis rails. Since the back of the shell weighs little, they will take the weight

Main problem in winter is damp and getting the paint to dry

Cut the OS sill out. Marked up with masking tape

Then used a 1mm cutting disk

It's that rotten the spot welds at the other end just came off

Right behind the outer sill is a stiffening plate

The reason the sills rot is that the distance between the outer sill and the stiffening plate is about 1mm. Nissan sprayed box wax in this area but it's that tight it didn't get in

The stiffener is folded and spot welded to this lip

To find the spot welds I wire brushed the lip with this

Easy to see with the paint / rust removed

I then ground them down a bit

Then used this to split them

Then cut along the stiffener to get rid of the rot

Your lucky you can still see spot welds. Most 13's including mine there was no metal left, nice work mate.

Looks like the 10 years storage in a garage has saved it. I will be selling my old S13 as a rolling shell (everything bar engine and gearbox) when this car is finished. The shell on that is mint

This is another stiffener that needs some work

Then cut part of the outer wing out

Clamped it to a piece of sheet steel

I used various hammers and dollys to make a repair piece

Why aren't you selling the old 13 as a whole ? PM me if you don't want to clutter the thread.

I'll keep it short and sweet.
The engine was rebuilt 8000 miles ago but it still burned oil - most likely turbo
It was taken on a long trip and run short of oil which damaged the big ends
The engine has a lot of parts which are good - +20 forged pistons, head has had a full on refurb, new cam idler, clutch, refurbed starter etc. The clutch was brand new and the gearbox is 100%. I would sell it as a complete car but feel there could be more value in these parts.

I am also going to swap a few parts over as those on my old car look better -
NSF wing (small dent in new one)
    Rear bumper (scuffed)
    Fuel tank
    Brake backplates

I'm also going to take off -
    Wheels
    Kouki's
    Induction kit
    Mongoose exhaust

I have everything to build the car up to sell as complete if needed.

For obsolete parts, try Humphris in Oxford, they're really helpful with the old stuff, unlike my local one. I got a front rad support crossmember from them and it turned up in record time. They also do mail order

    Good luck with it Pete

Not sure if this a jacking stiffener or an alignment point used during manufacture.

Either way the inner sill is rusty so I cut it out

    Further up is OK

Ground the rust out of the rear spoiler

This is why they rot. The black foam is porous. Any gaps or cracks in the paint and it sucks water up like a sponge

Brush painted Electrox on the bare metal

Had a load of the back suspension parts blasted.

    Subby hung up for primer

    All primed now

Hi Pete, Any chance of some really clear close-ups of the spoiler before, during and after remedial work ? I really want to see the shape of the metal brackets so I can remake mine properly.

The bracket you pointed to in the first pic of Post78 is a jack reinforcement point. Corrosion in this area is what leads to collapsed sills when people jack on them.
