lovely work as usual Pete not sure about painting the breather clips though, I think you might be utterly mad
do you still have that spot welder you obtained for the Mini? if so, check the 200 related area for my thread, might need to borrow it at some point if that's OK.

Foam strip around the rear lights have seen better days
Cut some new stuff to size and glued on
Front wings needs a bit of work
After wire brushing and a coat of deox gel.....
They still need spot treating with gel to get the rest of the rust out.
Painted most of the engine brackets & pipes in 2K black

Are the wings actually perforated at the bottom ? ...or is it just carbon dots that haven't been removed yet ?
How does anything dry in this cold wet weather! Kudos to you Pete for your perseverance

Making good progress on the engine! How resistant to heat is the hammerite Pete?
Looking good Pete, Hammerite should be fine I painted my brake calipers with it and havnt had any problems
Sorry for all the daft questions Pete! What did you paint the tank with?
There's no such thing as a daft question
The tank has been coated with zinc. At first I thought it was made from zintec sheet but having seen the roll weld around the seam, it would seem a pointless exercise as the welding process would burn the coating off.
I doubt it's been galvanised as the heat required would buckle the thin steel so I can only assume it's been electrically dipped to apply the zinc. Painting over zinc is not the easiest thing to do as you can run in to all sorts of problems with adhesion and chemical reactions as some primers can saponify upon contact.
The best primer for zinc coated steel is epoxy primer. In this case however, the coating has failed in places and the steel has rusted. With the rust removed I have 2 finishes...mild steel and the zinc coating. Even I'm not that anal to start mixing primers so I sprayed the lot with 2 coats of Electrox zinc primer followed by 4 coats of black 2K

Top of tank cleaned up
Cant get in with the wire brush to sort the filler neck so I'm going to shot blast it. I'm also going to spray it with 2K epoxy as its the hardest paint I know. This will reduce the chance of the filler neck being chipped when filling up.
Masked up
2 coats of Electrox.
I'm doing as much as I can whilst the weather is decent

I joined this forum in 2003 and often saw both s13's and S14's on the road. These cars are getting rarer now as it's an "event" when you see one. It's fantastic to see members keeping these cars alive and I agree, there's some great projects going on at the moment
Sprayed the top of the tank in 2K
Also cleaned up and sprayed the starter motor
The best piece of advice I can offer to anyone refurbing a car is to keep chomping away at the bit There's a lot of parts and it takes time but from experience, one day all the parts will be refurbed. The best bit is bolting it all back together
