    NS front arch in primer

Seams split on front cross member

This refurb is looking more like the Mini I did - if you think S13's are bad, Mini's are in a league of their own

Extent of the rust under the OS arch

S13's go here because the seam sealer is inadequate

Also along the inner wing to chassis leg due to the lack of it

I've filled all the rusty seams with Deox gel, this will take a couple of days to do it's stuff. Might be worth a mention that if it was blazing summer heat (dream on) the Deox would take less time.

Hi Pete the area in this pic-

    http://s574.photobucket.com/user/Pet...twnop.jpg.html

Mine went here in both sides so i cut it right out and welded fresh metal in then seam sealed, primed and undersealed however i have noticed recently that there appears to be a rusty coloured run mark that has appeared to of come from the bottom of the piece i welded in!

Is it possible that somehow moisture/water can get inside the leg and this is the only place it can come out?

There are drain holes in the bottom of the chassis legs. It could be a number of things but more than likely it's crept through a void in the weld.

    Hi Pete

Well I've not been on here for the last few years.... But it's good to see you're still on top form doing another major project like this. Well done

Well said and another blast from the past, if you still have your fleet it's got to be time to update your threads

Thanks guys Just like old times eh?

OS chassis seam gelled and blasted. Ive also bought a new blast gun with ceramic tips which is miles better than the steel tipped ones.

Deox gel / blasting combo works well

    Few more bits blasted

Then lifted the front of the shell up with an engine crane

Makes easy access to the front cross member

OS turret needs a bit of work

I wish I had the time, patience and skill to do this stuff to mine. It's going to be awesome when it's finished.

This is the 3rd S body I've restored, if the truth be known, Ive had enough

Two halves of the front bumper stiffener

Rather than spot welding and burning the paint off, decided to bond them together with panel adhesive

    Shouldn't rot now

You're always going to hit a low spot with a resto of this size. Chin up, lean in and persevere ! It'll be worth it in the end !

I haven't done that many full blown restorations - 3 S Bodies, a Mini (unfinished) and this Opel Ascona

Yeah I know, everything seems so familiar - already been here done that I just want to get everything straight and tidy again. Garage is like a junk yard and the drive is like a beach

It's 5 more full on restos than most have even started ! This s13 looks to have been a really good base and would make a great keeper and even an heirloom to pass on !

Yeah that was proper full on. You can throw a lot of dosh on cars but houses are in a league of their own I ended up more or less knocking it down and rebuilding it It ended up 2.2X the size.

Those were the days when cash was more plenty full

Yeah it's all looking good. I need a few parts but they are becoming difficult to find now. I won't ever sell the S14a or S13, nor the Mini. The S14 hasn't turned a wheel since I restored it but this S13 will be used I don't plan on giving it a hard life though as there won't be many CA'd S13 left. I've even bought cheap, but branded brake pads for it....

The idea is, if it won't stop..... there's no point giving it a boot full

Thank you, I'll be in touch

Decided to re use these turret to inner wing stiffeners so I've cleaned them up

Underside of the front cross member cleaned up

    Then this rolled up

I'm filling any imperfections with paint rather than stopper / body filler to prevent any shrinking or mapping out issues. The problem is, 2K takes ages to air dry so I'm getting paint on things now to give it time

    Abs unit cleaned up

    Also the master cylinders

Not sure what to do with the fluid hard pipes yet. Might replace them all or just refinish the originals.
