It's no good having a 200sx in the garage though when you want to overtake something

    Very true!

We all know we see the other "fun" cars when were all in our dailies looking poor-AF.

Indeed, which is why I abandoned the sensible diesel and reverted to using the S14 everyday
However, last year it cost me lots to rent a supermini for a week while the S14 was welded back together at MoT time, and I think the same is going to happen again this year.
So I understand the appeal of the 'spare car' principle.

I am glad it's only once a year though.

If you dont need a big car...

What about a 106/AX/205 Derv. The 1.4/1.5 dervs are super-reliable, most of the bodies are galvanised so no rust, and they dont have many electrics to stop working.

They're actually pretty fun as you drive them at 100% everywhere - something you can never do with a 200SX unless on track, my old AX was quite entertaining in a funny sort of way!

Don't buy a diseasel - for £500 buy a 1.7 Puma and have loooads more fun. Mine does 37-38mpg no matter how I drive it and if you factor in the difference in price between 95 and the black stuff then that's the equivalent of over 40mpg AND you'll be helping the environment

    You know it makes sense.

The theory is sound... just check carefully for rush, if you think Nissans rust, wait until you see a 90s Ford

Meh, I have two Pumas currently, both have rust, but it's only cosmetic - absolutely nothing compared to my S13

Pumas are DIRT cheap atm, and I'd go so far as to say they're as much fun as a 205 GTI to drive.

I had one for a bit, it was quite a hoot to drive, even tried one on an autosolo and it was pretty good - but far too well put together to compare to a 205 level of excitement

    And that's a complaint!?

I've used one of mine for a couple of airfield days now, keeps up with anything through the twisty bits, even on budget scrapyard part-worns

Yeah, part of the 205 charm is the rattles and sense of wonder when you complete a journey without issue

I know what you mean though, my ruined MX5 usually does OK at Autosolo days - it's amazing what you can do and how quickly you can do it when you have no fear of ruining the car - due to not really caring

Iv been offered a Vauxhall Tigra as a part ex towards my S3.

Tempted. As the guy buying my car was gunna offload it for £300-£400 today to buy my S3 this afternoon. Freeing me to go buy a new daily. But I'm half tempted to take cash and car.
