Smoke on idle, help please (SR20DET)

Hi all, as of a couple of days ago my car started smoking after idling for about 20seconds, it's a blue-ish colour, smokes for a bit and then goes for a little while (10-20seconds) if you was to rev it slightly, then comes back again.

Have been told it could either be turbo seals or valve stem oil seals but not sure which so if anyone has anymore input it would be much appreciated.

Drives and boosts fine it's just when idling there's smoke

    Thanks in advance :-)

Valve stem seals oil smoke will clear as the car gets warmer so wouldn't say its that mate.
It does sound more like a turbo oil seal description.

    Hope this helps bud

Agreed about turbo seals, I had them go on previous T28's and it sounds the same as your problem

    Cheers guys, much appreciated.

So then, with the car being run up to normal temp, there shouldn't be any smoke? It would just be when its cold/warming up?

If it was valve stem seals you are correct, a turbo with blown seals will blow cold or hot.
Other things can cause the issue you have though so as much information is helpful.
Could be rings, head gasket, turbo.
More than likely turbo though as thats the common issue but still worth double checking the simple things like checking the oil fill cap for milky looking oil etc.
If it does turn out to be turbo I have two t28's here.

Yeah literally trying to gather up as much info as I can to narrow it down the problem. It hasn't long had a new headgasket, water pump, crank, replacement conrod, acl bearings etc so it SHOULDNT be the headgasket or rings.
I'll pm you regarding a turbo mate :-)
