Holding back between 2000 and 4000 rpm
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has any ideas, On medium to full throttle it holds back/hesitates between 2000-4000 rpm. After 4000 rpm the car pulls strong. Anyone have any ideas?

If you've increased the boost then plug gaps.
Manual says 1.1mm but the flame will blow out at that gap if you are running anything in excess of standard boost.
Try fitting a fresh set of NGK Coppers (either BCPR6ES or BCPR7ES depending on your spec) gapped to 0.8mm. They cost around a tenner from Halfrauds.

As Jonny says or boost leak, Timing weak coilpack or bad coil ground.

Is the EGR valve still connected? This causes hesitation at low revs. It's the first mod I did all those years ago.

Do you have some sort of boost control device? If so, is it fitted correctly?

An update on this. I tightened a few breather hoses and other hose and feels a bit better. Now what it feels like is as if boost comes on at 4000rpm rather than 3000 rpm like normal. Car is stock with just an auto to manual conversion. Fuel pump? Car pulls strong after 4000rpm.....PS I have a manual ECU in the car.

Have you used the correct ecu when doing the conversion? For example fitted a non lambda ecu to pre facelift car?

Its got a 23710-39F05 which I believe is for a lambda manual transmission, the car has a lambda.

So have you increased boost? What plugs are you using? And has the timing been checked?
