    2871r oil return

Just wondering if anyone has a bolt on solution to this, I've tried two standard ones now making the holes slightly bigger but it still leaks. Both faces are flat, but somehow oil still finds a way out!

I used a standard one with a paper gasket and never had any problems

Same as above. I bought a sheet of gasket paper and a smear of high temp gasket sealant.

You can get adapters that fit properly. Some people elongate the holes but that a bit ghetto for my liking. Any of the turbo places should stock the adapters.

Cheers guys, I've tried the elongated hole thing a couple of times, but isn't working out for me and want something that fits properly. Just ordered this so hopefully solves the leak and can just get a nice straight pipe on instead of the right hand corner thing...

I would never use the stock pipe with ballbearing garrett turbo. Definately a good choice that...

Because they need as straight oil return as possible or you will flood it with oil and kill the seals.

Ball bearing turbos flow less oil than a standard plain bearing turbo so if the drain is suitable for the standard turbo then it is more than capable for a ball bearing turbo it has to change direction at some point and won't really affect the flow rate of the oil

Oil return isn't pressurised so it needs gravity to work. Any change to direction will seriously affect the flow.

I would have to disagree, yes it isn't pressurised but it is essentially thrown out and ball bearings use very little oil so the slight bend in the return won't cause enough of a back up in oil to flood anything. Flooding in ball bearing turbos is generally caused by too much oil from the inlet due to not using the correct banjo bolt to restrict flow

Much neater that the standard setup, wish I bought it years ago rather than faffing around!

Have you just attached the standard pipe to it?

It's too short as you lose the 90 degree metal bit, I had some pipe laying around which I just cut to length and put a heat sleeve over it as don't want to risk melting it!

A lot easier on the 180sx sr20 as it does have a straight down oil return. Slotted the holes on mine, don't see how that's ghetto it still seals round the hole and tightens up the same.

That adapter looks good and it is elongated too lol

Can't seam to see a ridge in that picture, is there a ridge?
