    sxoc at driftland interest thread

    I'll make this brief.

Basically a drift day at driftland on Sunday 15th March.
Will likely run 11-3 or 11-4.
    Changes will be £5
    Disposal £2
    Tyres £5
    All supplied by driftland.

Bbq won't be there, but jeek has on site catering.

There will be some sort of deal about membership entry etc but those details are not worked out yet.
    I'll finalise everything today/tomorrow.

Price is kinda dependant on numbers.
I would guess it will be around the same as Crail, certainly won't be much different.

Can you please post if you can definitely go/pay.

    Will this be open pitlane?

Can't say if the pair of us (car sharing) will definitely go yet, need to sort insurance and roll bar first being a soft top.

I think so immy, certainly that would be my preference.

I've only been up a couple of times myself though, so if you think it runs better another way then please tell me.

If the numbers are limited then it can be run as open pitlane, this seems to happen during private Driftland days due to low numbers.

During the normal Driftland days I'v been to the numbers were quite high so of course they got to manage everybody so I'm not knocking them, but it does suck having to wait for ages for a short stint on track after a long wait. This is why I personally generally tended to avoid the normal Crail run oval (drag/drift) Knockhill own run track days and Driftland own run.
Private days was were it was at, SXOC for Crail, TrackScotland for Knockhill. Not seen open invites for private Driftland.

As great as it is that you guys are trying to make this happen at Driftland, it doesn't add much value as oppose to doing one of their own days, other than possibly cost I assume for members.
If the SXOC day can be open pitlane at Driftland like it is at Crail, that would be really awesome!

Not trying to be negative, just constructive. Of course it's up to the organisers to see if it's doable.

It worked really well when we had the SXOC day at Driftland before they had the opening weekender. That was open pit, so I hope we could do that again.

Jeek was telling me he had 63 at one day!!

We won't be doing anything like that.
It will be less than half.
The numbers will be between 20 and 30 immy I'd think.
I don't wanna commit to too much as I don't wanna back track, but i agree with you about track time.
I'm not interested in waiting an hour to run 10 mins.
Personally I'd rather pay 50 to run all day than 25 to que half the time.

Crail never had more than 8-10 on track even on the days we had 35 people.
so if dl can have say 6 on, then maybe 25 is a good number.
I also never went to regular days at Crail etc.

The first day will be a little suck and see.

But to reinforce the point immy, I'm not interested in a day of ques, I don't think anyone minds 10 mins of warm up time for the car, but much more than that people get annoyed.
The focus of the Crail days was always track time, that's not gonna change.

Benefits of sxoc days should be a bit more of a social aspect, hopefully less numbers meaning more track time and also less chance (not no chance) of muppets like I had to deal with the dl day I went to.

Jon sxoc has never ran a day at driftland mate.

Just had a look back, think it was organised through the forum, but not an official SXOC day.

Adrian, that I think covers your question. I don't agree with charging spectators TBH. Its a private day, spectators are coming to a private event, not a public one, there will already be costs covered by the catering we will use.

Spectator charges are what keep the price for drivers down. If all the drivers want to pay more than double each then we can do free Spectators. There is no charge for Spectators on weekdays, but then there won't be any action to watch as everyone works. Bill need paid.

On the other hand for people who actually drive, we are looking forward to having you guys. The format of the day is up to you guys. Open pit works well but only if everyone plays the game and no one's greedy.

I get that you've gotta pay the bills Jeek, still just stands out as I don't know another venue that charges for spectators on private days.

I have no problem with charging for spectators. Seems fair enough if you ask me.
