    BMW 125d M Sport = Worth a shot?

We're thinking of replacing my girlfriend's A3 in March, and the 125d has caught our eye. The specs look absolutely perfect for a sprightly daily:

    4cyl 1995cc Twin Turbo, 6speed, RWD
    Horsepower: 218
    Torque: 331 lb/ft
    MPG: 57 (Combined)
    0-62: 6.5 seconds

What's the catch, other than being hideously ugly?

I welcome suggestions for alternatives. Only stipulation is it can't be anything "big".

I bet that bastard will break your spine with an atrocious ride, and thats before even turning a wheel.

Suffice to say i do not rate BMW's suspension tuning department.

I also do not rate M Sport suspension, but from the reviews I've read, this one rides really well, even with the shitty runflats.

Not sure they seem to have much better gbox set ups plus it's a diesel it's a cruiser not a racer. It's just a much nicer place to be than the bm and it doesn't make rolling in glass seem more pleasant than driving down a country land.

Also just a side note don't go for the big wheels they seem to like cracking my friend mark cracked 2 on his e92 m3 changed to adv 1s

No, VAGs have the most boring interiors ever

Do the TT ones suffer the same chain failures and turbo deaths the 120d does?

Why not get the 3dr SE and have an acceptable ride?

Currently searching for a 123d Hatch 3dr myself, which looks much more appealing than the 5dr IMO.

It's just so ugly. I had a 120d M-Sport as a courtesy car when my 330 went in to BMW for some work (someone drove into it). I wanted to like it, economical but nippy little car. but I really, really hated it. The inside felt really dark and cramped. It somehow managed to feel both wallowy AND too hard at the same time.

When we were looking for similar, we bought a Scirocco.

It's like a beauty contest between two disabled pigs - neither is nice to look at.
Get the 5-door and at least it's more practical as a daily driver.

A 5dr will look the same if you stick those wheels etc on it.

I disagree - I think the 5dr looks more dumpy, the 3dr at least to my eyes has slightly better proportions.
