The article I've read just says that his contract will jot be renewed. when does it expire? Next month is it not? Still time for them to broadcast the final episodes as a good bye top gear style gig perhaps?

End of this month apparently, cant see them wanting to do it.
HIGNFY will be epic though, can see him laying into the bbc big style.
To be fair. If anyone of us punched a colleague - we'd expect the sack, so it shouldn't come as much of a surprise - for whatever reasons.
Yea it's fair enough and his own fault, it sounds like he landed quite the punch. busted lip, blood, bruising etc - thats not acceptable anywhere.
Why it's taken 3 weeks of media circus for the BBC to do the inevitable tho??
from the sounds of it Clarkson rang up and told the BBC boss what he'd done immediately.

It's pretty shoddy that it was leaked to the press before they told him though - if that was the case
Well it's been in the papers the last couple of days, it was the most un-shocking announcement of recent times.
They're talking about continuing the series without him, can't see how that would work. Clarkson basically IS Top Gear.

I can see it continuing badly, and costing a fortune and no-one (international TV stations) will buy it.
Hope I'm proved wrong tho, but I just can't see it still being as successful.
well I'll still watch it
I'm not so sure Richard will jump ship.
James I think will stay with Jeremy. They could pull off a decent show without Richard anyway.
It'd be hilarious if the three of them went to ITV and started their own show. It'd be a shame for us with adverts etc though
Wouldnt be surprised to see them do specials now, they go to places around the world... act like 'tards ect...
Networks will be falling over themselves to pick them up.
i think they should audition the job/s to petrol heads
And now the police are asking for the report from the BBC to see whether they need to take any action

Could you imagine the episode? " tonight on fail gear I sit and scour ebay for a pair of door cards, then we're going to inspect some pistons for possible detonation damage, finished off by watching me polish my strut brace "
Somehow doesn't seem as appealing as blowing up caravans and sky diving into lambos...
