May be it's the fact mine are "Dansk style".
Still £31k. That's possibly going to hurt the CSR brand.

Hit a bit of a problem. Not much info out on the web on this one but hopefully it's a relatively simple fix.
Basically, I have sweaty nadgers or pokey out nips but nothing in between. Stick the panel temp to Lo and out she blows arctic. Raise it just a degree or two to say 19 and all you get is baking hot air as if it wants to cook you. Nothing in between.
I think it's the fella behind this:
But Porsche want nearly £300 for the sensor LOL
Second hand ones seem to be sub £50 and they're easy enough to swap in and out so I guess I'll have a go at that first and bite the bullet on a new one if needed later.
Otherwise, MOT is up next week which means it's been a year since it's been back on the road. Last year I managed about 77 miles I think. This year a more respectable 1400 or so, given that it's the year of the Chynah Vyrus. Car still running sweet and has been used a bit to go shopping recently just because why the **** not.
All sorted now.
Swapping over was pretty straight forward - just having to take the vent out, and with the hardest part being getting the vent back in without breaking the little actuator arm that controls the vent closure flap.
Here's the bugger.
Getting the vent back in was a bit of an arse - it's a close fit and I kept knocking the the vent actuator arm open when trying to force back into its slot, bit of jiggery pokery required but otherwise ok.
Afterwards I went into the 'hidden menu' and checked what the sensor was seeing - the read out should be exactly what I'd set your climate control to. In my case I set it to 20 and sat in the car for a bit to let it steady up, and hey presto:
Sensor also sees 20.
Why I didn't think to do that with the old sensor still in place is beyond me But hey, just throwing money at it worked this time around
So did you cough up £300 for a new Porsche one ?
Decided to look at refreshing the underside of the car over the course of the next couple of years to get it back to box fresh. The car has had various arms replaced in its time but all of them are at least 6-7 years old now and since it's a forever car for me, sticking a bit of cash into it isn't an issue.
Decided to cost up the parts and yeah, err....... £4k ish plus VAT That's without labour. I reckon the back end of the car will need a bit of work to get everything out and isn't something I can do up on axle stands in the garage so will have to see who I can trust to do it and not rip me off.
Basic plan is new coffin and fork arms, anti roll bars, bushes and then - here's the hard bit - whether to go for Ohlins coilovers or keep with traditional shocks / springs and go with the Bilstein B6 option in this category. About a grand in the difference so not one to be taken lightly. Ideally, I don't really want to modify it so the shock / spring arrangement would clearly win out there but I think once you've gone down the route on ARB's etc then having a more balanced package probably becomes easier on coilovers.
Decisions, decisions.
If its your forever car, there is no need to spend money on stuff until it wants it.
You've never complained about how it handles or sounds so why not keep your powder dry and wait until there is a problem before you fix it ?
I did think that, and swayed that way, but then I thought the car is twenty years old in 6 months time, and the stuff that's on there is original in the main, and I should imagine it'll be a whole load better to drive if it's tight / refreshed, and to get more time driving it when it's 'right' versus just ok.
It's a plan for routine preventative maintenance, rather than a throw money at it for sake of it, sort of approach I'm looking at - which I guess is halfway between the two stalls.
I'd keep the money for when it needs an engine rebuild
lol
Huuuuuge tax rebate - it might be time to hit the workshop
Ha, that aged well:

Thinking of going Bilstein B6 with H&R springs - only a small drop. Will then renew most of the arms on the rear where I do have some creaking, and the top mounts all round, plus engine mounts which will be standard Porsche items, cos I'm not up for any NVH increase.
How flush are you feeling?
I went to Oil Cooled show at Boxengasse earlier in the year and saw an amazing display from Tractive Suspension, well worth a look.

I did stumble on those on 911UK a few weeks ago - I think the answer is not that flush since you can basically spend the price of the entire car
I'd like to, but I think it's a bit overkill for what I'm doing with the car - I doubt I'll ever use their capability.
Just stick a set of Apex Timeattack 12/10s on there. £600, job done
Well, this is SXOC. Someone had to say it.
I put similar kit on my m3 when i had it. The OE dampers had past their best. spec'd with the recommended elbach springs so a subtle drop 25mm and 15. Worked well everywhere- b roads, speed humps etc no problem, it was a bit firmer but was not crashy at all. Fit and forget.

If I can find Eibach springs with a nominal drop I'll get them. I have a set that drop 15mm on the Chavic Type Arrgh and they're ace TBH, car is transformed.
Had Koni/Eibach back when I was into VWs. Kind of forgot just how good they were.
The softer Ohlins would have been my choice, but I'm very happy with the new M030 kit fitted to mine before I bought it. Not sure if it's OEM or one from a specialist, one of which is quoting £3k+. Sure it's between £600 and a grand from Porsche. I think I'll be perfectly happy with whichever Bilstein/Koni-H&R/Eibach set up is currently fashionable when the time comes.
That awful suspension article in 911 and Porsche world (Dec 19)was a complete waste of time. "Oh, this one is more Lemon Sorbet"
Try and get a ride, may be not right now, in one with the SRR Tarmac and Poly gearbox mounts. For me they're perfectly fine, certainly better than the secondary "lurch" I could feel in the two other, admittedly tired, examples I tried.
All sorted, nice to find it had an LTT before I bought one.
Is that Low Temp Thermostat and I take it you've done your water pump mate?
Mine is sitting in garage not even MOT'd - just renewed the insurance, which has gone down again this year, so that's nice. I'll get it MOT'd just before lockdown ends then I've got to get it serviced and since I'm never going back to Autostrasse in my life, I've decided on Porsche Specialist Services just up from Harold Wood. A nice little drive from me so if they're good this will be very convenient.
Yes mate, was going to do it myself but guy I use offered to do it and change coolant for £80. Not worth laying on my back for that, got to take reality over ego in my state. He's a semi retired ex Aston/Porsche tech so knows his stuff. I do wonder what all these journos are paying at places like RPM.
Hope yours doesn't sulk. They really are a Porsche Tamagochi.
