Do it - YOLO - sod it, let's all buy 911's; it's amazing how totes Datsun they actually are.

Excellent, they are rated as 5 star drive by EVO who love the 996's, reckon they are such an undervalued performance car.

The colour combo looks great, and manual, so should be easy to sell on should you choose to in the future.

I'm quite jealous as if I didn't have so much cash tied up in the S14a I'd get one of these for the weekend car, surprisingly pratical and jsut so well suited to fast A and B road driving.

What are you favourite parts of the car and driving experience?

    I had a good try - it out-gripped me

Is it faster than a 300bhp s-body in a straight line? No - but is it a complete package of a car that just creams along at pace? Hell yes

Its starting to sound like you've rediscovered your love of cars, Arry, after a few years in the Bimmer wilderness. Welcome back

There is a lot to be said having a car that is a complete package from the factory that just works so well at everything it should. 300bhp is a nice figure and allows you to enjoy all features of the car without dominating the experience...after all it does 174mph

It's the overall package. But individually it's how it'll chomp along at pace being composed yet raw. Then you settle into a cruise and it becomes a nice place to be, sophisticated well built German car.

There are some annoyances - the indicator stalk feels so low rent for example - but it's made up for by a kick on the loud pedal

    2. Running and on the road.

Mine wasn't. Not by some way. But the condition of the car is stunning. It's been owned by an enthusiast and pampered completely for the last 6 years. The service file came in a box folder

Having looked over a few there's a vast difference between the good and bad. I decided to spend the extra as regardless of what you can fix on a car like this you just can't recreate a history file like it has, or ever get the car back completely to the condition it should be in

I'm sure there are good sub 10k ones out there though. They'll be silver but still

I am going to go and invest a chunk of my car buying budget in a TV to avoid this crazy talk of the sensibleness of 996 ownership. This is a dangerous thread, I think it needs closing, and Arry can make a new one just showing off his car or something

I am still much lols on the scope creep TBH. How I got this past the missus I just don't know

Now the hard part - I have to teach her how to drive a manual car again after 4 years out of clutch pedals. Her stick handling was never the best

I could do with someone else's non precious car to start her off in rather than trying to coach her in a 911
