    200sx - S14 daily - i should know better

About time I opened a thread here.

Some of the Irish members may remember me when I had the Clean Grey S14 and no budget.
Now I have a dirty Blue/Purple S14 Auto and no budget...

So I bought an Auto S14 for cheap, as is, from a hooky dealer
Everything you shouldn't do, I did....

    ISSUES:
    1. Suspension Geometry
    2. Needs a service
    3. Runs like a pig
    4. O2 sensor
    5. Melting ignition amp
    6. Loose wiring by steering rack
    7. Brake disks uneven ware
    8. Too much pre-load
    9. Too low without camber correction
    10. I'm too old for this
    11. I should know better.
    12. Cannon exhaust sets off car alarms.
    14. Its an auto.

First up exhaust. its a 3" system with a 2.5" cat.

Cannon gone, twin exit to keep the noise down and police uninterested.
Not getting attention is important to me so OEM look is good.

First up, Poly exhaust hangers for the back box and back section of the exhaust. The one closest to the engine will remain rubber to allow the exhaust some movement and give the turbo gaskets a chance.
Exhaust was heavy and could bounce making a racket.

Lady in work didn't look before reversing. Car off the road 2 months waiting on a bumper.

Car was really fecked when it came back. Panel beater fixed the panels but it was sick. Obvious it wasn't holding vac and boost.
So JP paid a visit before leaving OZ.

    New silicone/bends/reducers.....
    New inter-cooler core
Creative mounting and a 1am finish with the misses bedside lamp hanging from flex off the bonnet clasp.
Job done... It runs, it boosts, it idles, it doesn't empty a tank in traffic.

So I needed floor matt that fit. So I got these as a freebie, so i sprayed them black to clean them up.

Headlights needed a polish. They looked bad as one was replaced and one was yellow.

R32 Wheels largest legal I can fit on the car and gives me better grip, plus they don't look out of place.
I washed the car the evening before and a bird shat on it by morning.

Rev clock, I tried to solder it and killed it in the process. So I got a cluster.
Liked the idea of white dials but it turns out the clocks were different between 14/14a/jdm....
I got a second cluster after this and it now works.

Suspension height re-set. So I have reasonable camber and pre-load. I can get over speed bumps and when it rains I can touch the throttle without sliding the back-end. When I measured it was degrees of camber. Now sensible.

Tidy up and prep work for ozzy NCT.

Fresh pads and Fluid all round - Bad photo but its pads..
Mintex Pads, Pads I took off were fine but just glazed and felt poor. Now I have a very solid peddle again.

Spotted a split steering rack boot. That is on order so should arrive for next weekend along with poly rack bushes.

    Compression

So compression is good as per the manual but its on the bottom end of the tolerance scale and I want a reliable car and more power so I have to do something.

    Problem:

    1. Auto box
    2. Engine tired
    3. Turbo oil seals not looking like they like no-reserc
    4. I daily drive the car.
    5. My NCT/MOT/REGO is in January

So I banged it around, selling it on. Swapping in an s15 motor and box etc and came to the conclusion I need a cost effective solution as I don't want to get into the classic money pit situation.

    RB25 swap mounts:

    Bits required:
    1. Clutch
    2. Inter-cooler pipe work and silicone joiners
    3. RB25 Series 2 swap harness (Its my daily ill spend here to not tackle wiring)
    4. Custom Prop
    5. R33 half cut. (has to be a newer engine than the car to be legal)
    6. Radiator hoses/ cooling system (s13 rad or alu replacemnt)
    7. Service kit, Oil, oil pump,Water pump, Gearbox fluids, timing belt kit, Coolant, oil filter

    Other:
    Engineering Cert
    Larger injectors P2
    High flowed turbo P2
    Wire in Standalone ECU P2
    A shed/Garage
    Lift
    Luck
    Tools

Parts to be collected between now and start of April to spread the cost.
Half cut to be ordered end of March

Not sure about it, prefer the grill but it looks odd with the Nissan badge, could try a Silvia badge.

As for badging a 200sx as a Silvia, couldn't care less...

    Parts collection continues.

Time to wire the ECU into the sr20 and learn how to map the car while collecting the final parts for the engine swap.

This gives me a couple of months to learn on an engine I plan to replace.

KS-4 knock analyser/ knock alarm. So I don't blow my engine up while I get stuck in.

Ecu on test bed needs to go back to Haltech as I couldn't reset it and remove the password. Hopefully its ok.

    Conversion drive-shaft arrived

    Bad news time:

I need to park the rb25 swap for a while as I found out I have a visa to sort out by Feb so finances need to be diverted.

So looking like I need to leave the car on the motor it has for a few months.
