Get a 360' kit to upgrade the bearing. I got the kit from some turbo supply place around £80

Try www.turborebuild.co.uk a 360' race rebuild kit only cost me £55.00 with their 20% off deal and it turned up next day! highly recommended.

Yes the kit comes with all new bearings thrust coller and oil seals, will def be why its smoking!. the in and out play comes from when the thrust coller gets worn or damged. Stripping the turbo down can be quite tricky, you'll need decent large circlip pliers and medium circlip pliers and a hook and pick set for removing the journal bearings.

Do i need to get it balanced or are the t28 like the td04 where the components are individually balanced so no need to mark it up ?
Also whats the torque setting on the nut cheers

You can get away with marking the nut to the shaft and compressor wheel with a paint pen or marker, but would be best to get it balanced mate. I think its 11 nm to torque the nut someone else may confirm that.

There's plenty of video's on youtube to show you how to do it, i used an multi point 8mm socket fot compressor wheel and 13 mm multi point socket for the exhaust turbine side, but remember its a left hand thread so u undo it clockwise .

Goodstuff! unfortunatley my turbo had quite a worn shaft so still had some play after rebuild and has started smoking again already!. did you fit a staggered rear oil seal?
