Hydro, r33/z32 or both on s14 rear brakes?

Currently rebuilding rear end and subframe etc. Would a hydro be enough to lock the rear tyres? Or should I do away with the combination rear set up that s14s have and fit r33/z32 rears... Or both?

    Thanks on advance!

    Gabby

My R32 GTR setup was worse than the standard handbrake, I may have assembled it incorrectly but I suspect the lever ratio was different and that there are a different variants of the drum handbrake setup.

Hmm interesting guys! Thanks! Still undecided! It'll be a couple off this until the brakes gets done anyway!

Mine kinda locked crappy skid wheels, no chance with decent tyres, and I never trusted it enough to use it properly. Z32/R33 brake are a million times better an I'd recommend these over buying £100-odd brake pads that may or may not always work.

What is needed to do a conversion?
    Callipers
    Handbrake cable
    Pads discs
And is that it? Straight enough swap?

Calipers, backplates, handbrake mechanism/shoes, discs, R33 handbrake cables, conversion hoses. Everything bolts on to an s14. Can be one for under £200 if you shop about.

Thanks lad! Looks like I'll go that route then!
Remember reading to use z32 master cylinder? Better rear ratio..

I'm running a Z32 one as it's better with bigger front brakes and yea as you say it apparently sorts the bias out.

Z32/r33 any time, by the time you spend money on fancy pads your half way there anyway and the handbrake on these set ups is brilliant

Another option is sti/evo rear brembos. Its the route I am going as I have a friend into his scoobies and he has a spare set of calipers lying around! Bit more work involved but not massively. On the rear is it just a 3mm spacer between the caliper and mount.

Just purchased a full Z32 set up with R33 cables. Also got the Z32 servo and only need the BMC now!
