    Rocker arm stoppers fitting query

Now from what I understand you need to loose all the camshaft bolts and remove the outer ones (I have the procedure for correct routine) however one thing that I'm not sure on is with all the bolts loose and outer ones removed will the tension on the chain pull the camshafts about and possibly move them ? Or is it just a case of unbolting fitting stoppers and torquing back down?

The cover etc has all been modded to fit them

Thats exactly what I am doing this week. I am glad you ask this question.

Also, do I need to drain all the oil before I remove the cover?

T926, which rocker arm do you have?

I just undone and removed the bolts needed to fit the RAS,no need to loosen all of the bolts imo
I binned the splash plate or whatever the thing is for? (diverts the oil away from the valve stem seals when its filled with oil?)
I didn't have oil spewing out the rocker cover cap or any thing bad,and it didn't plume out loads of smoke after an oil change
and no need to drain the engine oil cingai
possibly someone will quote my method risks the cam caps breaking in half or something bad?
but I don't recall reading anywere they all need to be loosened to fit the RAS

The right way to do it would be to all the cap bolts and tighten them back up in the right order. That way you won't put any unnecessary stress on the cap and bearing.

However, you could probably get away without.

Belt and braces would be to loosen everything and torque up as per the FSM.

Shouldn't need to worry about the chain doing anything with the cams, it will be in tension anyway and should only move if you turn the crank.

Loosen them all in sequence, just remove the outer ones fully once loose. Modify the baffle plate (chop off 2 corners basically) and refit. Tighten up in sequence. Don't worry about the chain, it won't skip a tooth or anything as it's all still under tension.

If you want you can ziptie the chain to the cam sprockets, that way you don't have to worry about it skipping a tooth.
And I would definately advice you to undo the bolts in correct order. Especially if you have stiff valve springs there is even a chance to snap the camshaft if you don't...

Got oil leak after I refit the rocker cover yesterday, today I changed the gasket and seems still leaking.

The leaks is from the back of the engine and its not a lot, like dripping.

Anyone has an idea what did I done wrong?

Haven't pinched the gasket have you? They're sometimes a pain to get seated properly in the groove in the rocker cover

Did you use liquid gasket on the halfmoons in the back and front?

Don't forget to modify the cam cover, you need to grind away some webbing for clearance

The gasket is new and I did put liquid gasket around. I think the trouble is the half moon on the passenger side, its hard to put it popular on and i cant make sure it because the metal plate is blocking

You can "feel" if it is sitting properly with your finger... They are rather tricky to get in place...

I guess you mean the bracket behind the head... I left it out when I rebuilt my engine. Are you sure you cant get it off?
