I've never got on with the cheapy kits. The bench mounted ones from the likes of Sykes Pickavant (sp?) Are great, but expensive for occasional use. If its not something youre going to do a lot of, then it often makes more sense to bend the pipe, put the fittings on, and get a garage to put the flares on for beer tokens.
For pipe just use any old Cunifer (NOT copper).

I've been quite happy with very cheap Clarke kit from Machine Mart.
Instructions are crap.
Used it on copper for single and double flare.
Won't do double on cunifer, it splits. So straight unions the cunifer has to be the double flare.

Exactly. And neither copper nor single flares have any place in an automotive braking circuit.

Copper pipe is not cool for brake lines??
Why??

Copper work hardens with time and vibration which can eventually cause it to crack. Granted, it's a small risk (although enough to cause copper to be banned in the US and a few other countries), but for the few quid extra a massive roll of Cunifer costs, it's not even something I'd consider.
