Boot alarm sensor
After owning the car for however many years it is now I've just found out opening the boot with the alarm set does not set it off - this can't be right
Should there be a sensor of some kind or a trigger switch somewhere, I can't see anything.......

Mine is. If I set the alarm and open the boot with the key it'll go off.

My s14a is too, in fact you only have to look at it and the alarm goes off lol

Something's missing from mine then - I can't see anywhere round the boot a switch looks to be missing from.....
I'll have a better look round the hinge area, that would be a logical place for a switch.
Which reminds me of something else - I've not got a light in the boot either, don't know whether there should be but it could be related......

I can open my boot using the key and the alarm armed and it won't go off, but my mates s15 with the same alarm (toad ai606) will go off if he opens the boot with the key.

The switch is integrated into the lock.
Most alarms should be capable of being wired to it, it's just whether the alarm fitter can be bothered to find it and rip apart the interior just to run a wire to it.
If it's the standard alarm some wiring may have gone AWOL.

Thanks for that - just had a look, I'm assuming it's a tilt switch as I can't see any moving parts on in, guessing it's got stuck which is why the alarm isn't being triggered.
WD40 or a new one then........

Worth noting (because i've just remembered) My rx7 had the same alarm as my 180sx (toad ai606) and the alarm would go off if i opened the boot whilst the alarm was armed. So yea its deffo either something broken or the guy that fitted the alarm didn't do that bit lol.

Didn't look that closely the other day when I said the switch had no moving parts, closer inspection shows it's activated by the lock mechanism, either key or release lever.
Looks to be working fine, there's two wires into it, red and black, tried connecting red to ground and red to black but neither trigger the alarm.........

Thanks snops for your suggestion, all the wiring seems ok so that's not the cause.
