Small update just the last of the suspension parts at the front to sort as the rear is complete, the lower arms stuck out too far and pushed the wheels past the arch so the subframe was re drilled to bring the arms in, once that was done the the tension arms were bolted on and brackets made (yet to be welded ) the bulkhead has been cut to allow steering column to pass through and the lower mount for it sorted just the middle and top brackets to fix

Trademark get Kev in the pics

Tension arm brackets welded on this week

The correct bolts haven’t turned up from eBay but you get the idea

Also got the universal heater matrix that was bought a while ago mounted on the back of the bubble under dash

And a pic of steering column lower mount

With the steering all fitted positioning of the rails was done to get the seats bolted in place

Next job was to get the custom made tank fitted Kieran brought this over as he is thankfully storing loads of parts for the build in his garage, so we (Kev) made a seat/bracket to sit tank on also had to cut a flap in the boot floor to allow the built in swirl pot to sit down

A couple more brackets today to hold tank and firewall which will go either side of it

It’s a bit of a read and plans kept changing and evolving
Can’t thank Kev and Kieran enough for sticking with it and giving up more than just time

Update time we had to cut out the boot floor to allow the swirl pot in the fuel tank to sit down so we went about making a cover for it

Also we have to make a lower back panel so hung the exhaust to see where it exits has to pull toward the front of the car but you get the picture

Right this week we had to take our brave pills and set about cutting up the new steel rear bubble arches as we have spoke about before not a fan of the shoulder then the arch going flat so out came the angle grinder again

Then we got to shaping and welding back up anyway they fell into place easier then I imagined an I’m really happy with the shape now there isn’t a flat part obviously still have the filler work to do but very happy

Just back from another good day
We decided to cut lower rear panel and replace but with prices almost £100 for a replacement once again we made our own

We wanted to give it some shape so welded on a temporary round bar to shape panel around

Ratchet straps to help pull panel round bar

Shaped and tacked in place ready to go back on spit

It drops down a little more than the original but will help hide the massive exhaust

    Another update

Finished the rear panel and even added in a jacking point for ease

And made a start on the firewall that will go round the fuel tank first of 3 panels complete

    Cracking on with this now

Ok been reminded that I’ve not updated in a while even though we’ve not stopped lots has happened even if if doesn’t look like it
Door aligned with big hammer and heat so body lines match up and they close nicely now
Wings at front cut off to carry out repairs on upper bulkhead then found rust a ton of filler and patch on patch on patch etc on inner wings rather than slightly repair or pay £500 each for inner wings yep made our own again,
I showed Kev pics of a flat smooth engine bay

He agreed we’d give it a go nervously
    Before

    During

    After

Need to finish off and passenger side then remount wings on custom made rain gutters and either make or buy God forbid upper bulkhead corners
    Then Kev’s favourite thing wiring
