    Escort mk1 SR20 project

Right starting this thread before I even start on the project or even seen the car in the flesh
I starts with Kev & Kieran collecting a pretty clean 2 door mk1 escort from Ireland for me

    On the ferry

    Back at Kev's

    Tucked up in garage
I will update as much as possible

Will look forward to seeing your progress

It looks like an incredibly clean base to start with.

Wow,shedding a small tear as a manufacturer purist! but looks a lovely car/project!

You only need two tools in life - wd-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the wd-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

And if you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem!

If it was a RS or Mexico I wouldn't bastardise it just a clean 1300 base
Kev's giving instruction to Kieran to buy parts so it makes it to the weekender

My 1st two cars were Mk1's, (A sexy 1100XL 4dr in the ever desirable () low compression format to learn in, & then onto a 1300E to act like 'Jack the Peanut' when behind the wheel with my shiny new licence) & always have a desire to own another 2 dr some day, but with substantially added poke. Will be keeping a 'mooch' on this thread for sure.

    Ta,
    R.

I'm sure that Street Options Will was going to stick a YB in someone's drift car but ended up fabbing up bits for a 2JZ instead.

    -edit- this thread http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.p...2JZ&highlight=

Pity, I'd love to see how it would have turned out with the YB in.

I'm from an old school ford background and a turbo mk1 escort has been on my list for a long time. I had a mk3 Capri with a peppy 2litre pinto, I spent a lot if time and money on it. I ended up with a 130hp car that didn't idle spat fire and was generally a pain in the backside right up until it shat the bed when the carbs went out of balance as they did ALOT. I
Did look at v8ing it but the insurance at 21 was going to be silly, petrol more so. So I looked further outside the box and ended up with Japanese beast.
