Was a keyfob an option on S14a's?

So just been to see Specialist Cars in Aberdeen to see how much they would charge me for replacement keyfobs as the car never came with any. The lass informed me that it was not showing as orderable for my car so she checked with her supervisor and they concluded it must have been an option my car didnt get.

Sounds like pants to me but just wondered if anyone owned an S14a which didnt have fobs from the factory or knew this could be the case before i phone them back and call them idiots?

Standard on all uk cars I believe.

If your car is standard your best bet may be to get a second hand acu and fobs (inc master) from a breaker on here.

Its a UK car, currently fairly standard although looking to carry out quite a few mods probably next year which will include ECU changes

If I knew of a car getting broken - would it be the main ECU that would get swapped or just the NATS control box? Also would the swap have any problems with the transponder in the original keys?

I've got 3 fobs, 1 master fob and 2 normal fobs, plus 2 original keys for the car!

I must be one of the lucky ones

No electronics inside, it's just the case with new buttons.

They were all over eBay a few years ago, but this was the only one I could find today.

That's what I used to refurb mine. Anyone know where you get the little metal discs from that make it 'click'? My other fob is missing them.

Don't think they are the same inside, it's just the buttons that are the same size, although a different colour.

I've got 3 fobs on my 14 1 master and 2 normal ones, but the siren was unplugged when I got the car, never tried them. do they just set the alarm? or do central locking as well?

I've never tried them because the alarm was unplugged when I bought it so I thought it was broke.

Just been out and tried one of the fobs and it unlocks the car! I've had this car for 3 years and never realised! lol

one of the fobs doesn't work though, does anyone know how to program the fobs with the master one?

plugged my siren back in and it chirps when the car is unlocked... does that mean the internal battery in the siren has had it?

They are a brand new dealer mate so staff will not have much of a clue about current models let alone previous models!

Without meaning to sound harsh, I don't think the girl seemed to have a clue about much really. She certainly didn't stand out as one of life's winners anyways
