    Track legal exhausts...

Hi there, there must be a few one here that do grip days and have to comply with noise regulations. My current exhaust is hugely loud (114dB @ 5k, with a bung in!) and I need something that will pass 105dB and not sap power (the bung is horrible). What are you guys using?

I used a Hks silent hi power on my s14, there much quieter than that 85db range I believe. You'll want to be a fair bit lower than 105, have you tried a silenced decay?

I currently have a cheap twin exit with a silent decat and was sub 85db at castle combe

Whatever you get, you will want a decat silencer.

Get a custom one made up? Won't cost much more than the likes of a HKS and it will do exactly what you want.

Pretty much anything with 2 silencers will be fine. I would also agree with running a decat silencer too.

I've got a HKS hi power, stainless mani, 3 inch elbow/ downpipe/ decat and that made 94 DB at combe.

Centre boxes seem to make a huge difference, or even decat silencer for an easy fit

I've researched this and apparently the HKS Silent Hi Power or Mongoose are the way to go. Shouldn't even need a decat silencer, apparently. Just need to pull my finger out and buy one!

Don't be so sure Dave, different turbo's, different boost pressures and different manifolds affect different exhausts in different ways. There is no one way.

The de-cat silencer is definitely the easiest way to a likely sound level pass.

I'm using an Apexi GT spec exhaust with a decat silencer. Doesn't even hit 90db on the static test

Has any tried the Blitz Nur Spec RX? It claims 90dB, thought obviously this can only be a rough guide.

The centre box looks really small so I'd think that would be pretty loud.

Well, since both the turbo and the clutch blew up I've not had the time or money to see to the exhaust. Trackday on Thursday and its still way too loud. I have a bung that works to quieten it down but it also saps almost all the power out of the engine which obviously sucks balls. If I just throw the cat back in it, will this be about the same as a decat silencer? Can't possibly ruin the power output as much as that bung does.
