    S14 Pipe poor fitment

Just fitted a S14 japspeed flexi downpipe to the Datsun, fitment isn't the best and as a result the flexi part actually touches the chassis member/rail, theres no vibration or noise so would this affect the car in anyway other than being a poor fitment part? Thanks

elbow is standard item that came with the car from japan so I assume its for the 14. As far as I can tell the downpipe is s14 fitment also as it looks similar to one that came off with the exception of the flexi part, if that flexi part was not on then it would not touch the chassis member/rail

It's low quality tat tbh, my ebay downpipe (I believe they are all the same regardless of brand) hit the floor of my S15 too and needed some hammer massage to fit nicely.

A 14 elbow and 14a elbow are different. You can't mix the 2.

OP if you take a picture of your elbow and post it on here you should be able to see which one you have!

I had an eBay downpipe on mine and it fitted perfectly with an apex elbow

    S14a elbows are shorter

As standard the S14a has a little catalyst within its downpipe. The shorter elbow makes room for this catalyst.
Aftermarket downpipes do not have this catalyst in, but are still a different length for S14 and S14a, because of the difference in elbow size.

How many more threads about JapSpeed tat fitting badly can we take before people abandon them?

Their new 'race' manifold looks tragic.

The measurement between turbo and main catalyst is the same for S14 and S14a.
The elbow and downpipe fill this space.
The elbow and downpipe need to match. S14a elbow and S14a downpipe, or S14 elbow and S14 downpipe.

If S14 and S14a get mixed up, it will not fit.
