    turbo oil feed leaking still..

    Hey guys need help.

I have replaced my mani and gaskets recently and when i was screwing the feed bolt back in to block i must have stripped the threads.

So when i started it was leaking alot.

Oil feed line off and we have since drilled, tapped and then hellacoiled it so now bolt screws in fine but it still leaks a small amount.

Copper washers have been replaced, surface on block and oil feed are fine, im still stumped but and want the car working again last week

    Anyone had a similar experience?

You heat the metal up to more usable as it changes and compresses when you tighten it down( i don;t know how to explain it lol)

My friend same sort of thing but his turned out to be the bolts didn't have a long enough thread and was going all the way in.

I would also check that the surfaces are flat after drilling and helling.

Ahhhh heat the copper washers and put them on, that makes sense, but do i heat them up and put them one when they are still piping hot?

You shouldn't need to do it with a new washer tbh. What you do is heat it until it's glowing red and then dunk it in water, this makes the copper softer and should seal better.

Are the washers you're using a tight fit to the threads? If they are loose they tend to leak.

I would say they are tight yeah, they go on but are harder to get off when on they are that tight, they are like twice the thickness as the original ones but.

had exactly the same problem just last week mate! drilled it out and coiled it and it still leaked! i think it is a problem with washers. do as suggested and that should work! i took mine off and boiled em for 5 mins, put em back on and it seems to have done the trick! just be careful not to over tighten it! i'm still a bit nervous to drive mine as when my bolt stripped the thread, i was driving at the time! the bolt came out completely and set fire to my car! all seems ok now tho!

just check the length of the thread going into the block too! i found out that after putting thicker washers on, there was hardly any thread to grip! i got a longer one in the end! (M12 x 1.25 x 31 mm) thats as long as they get!

Ok so tried the heating up the washers before putting them on still no joy. The oil is coming out from the side nearest the engine. Couldnt feel or see any cracks on either the block or the banjo.

From the hose to the block? How many washers are you using, one on each side of the banjo on the line?

I am using one washer on either side.

It is leaking bad enough that its a constant stream, if it was just a slight drip it wouldnt bother me as much.

It feels like it could go tighter, but for me to make it tighter it would require a fair bit of effort from me to tighten it up and i don't wan't to over tighten it again.

Its the first i have had the car back on the road since October and its killing me not being able to drive it.

So the lines was used or brand new? I take it they will flow oil i.e. not blocked?

I just nipped mine up and got no leaks so I wouldn't go too tight.

is the facing flat on the block side I know its hard to see but if its been drilled and messed with it may have a nick or lump in it so you aren't sealing?

    Get some photos.

A dowty washer is normally used on hydraulic lines and is basically a washer with a plastic type insert to help it all seal.
