    Halfords Tool Warranty

Most impressed with this... snapped my 24" breaker bar today, took it back to Halfords without any proof of purchanse and they swapped it on the spot without quibbling. It was nigh on ten years old!

    Original:

    Replacement:

As you can see they've improved the design somewhat, the new one is much heftier and can't break in the same way.

For most other things they are a bit crap but I love the tool set I got from them 15 years ago!

Now I was told that you need the purchase receipt ( yes the very one that fades over time ) going to have to try again with them

TBH the latter design is better as you can see them really bend before they snap.

ive had mixed results with the warranty, the first time I took something back the smart arse kid asked me to prove I got that tool from Halfords, I just pointed out that it has their name embossed into it. the second time I approached the most stupid looking kid and got him to swap the broken item out of my big tool kit for one that was actually better.

I got a set of screwdrivers worth £9.99 free with a can of oil, a couple of years later I got another set of identical screwdrivers free however this time they were worth £19.99 apparently. The only difference was that they had 'Advanced' printed on them!

I went back with a ratchet and they said that's the only thing they don't cover in the warrenty as people use them past there boundaries (their words not mine) ie use with a bar for more leverage or stand on them for the same!

The ratchets are pretty cheap to repair, New pawl kits are about 4 quid. As for the other tools they have always been really good at sorting bits.
