Sr will not start when warmed up to temp

Hi guys, when I switch the car off then back on it refuses to start. If I pull the fp fuse it still won't start. The only way to start it again seems to be by removing the plugs and let fuel vapour out of the cylinders. The plugs were dry but could see that the pistons were a little wet. The engine has been rebuilt and is running on idle with an afr of 16.9/17.0.

Leaking injector Orings? Or something else? It's running a bosch044 pump through the standard fpr

    It's driving me mad.

It sounds like it's overfueling. Do you have a gauge in place and know what fuel pressure it's reaching and see if it's dropping down? (although the stock FPR should maintain 3bar)

AFR's on idle seem a little high to me even for idle tbh, You could have leaking Fuel injector seals i had the same issue previously so i changed them then had an injector stuck open! lol

I will get seals anyway I think. It's cheap enough. What symptoms did you have to need to replace them?

Mine would be a pig to start and when it did it wouldn't fire on cylinder 1 and ran rich as **** on the rest. It also wouldn't hold pressure in the rail when the pump was primed just went up then down straight away and Luckily I had a shot flexi just under the engine (mine's FWD btw) and could see it was showing signs of bore wash! ! I quickly removed the rail and could see the seals were damp around the sides and I blew down the inlet with the FPR on and it just pissed out of them.

Which is the hose that goes to the stock FRP under the throttle body?

Mine starts ok so not as bad as yours maybe.

Does the ecu do anything when its switched off as the engines not in a 200 now and had the wiring messed with a bit. PS its running a jdm map too if it differs at all.

Failure to start when hot on an S13 is usually a problem with the hot start solenoid.

If the SR is the same, it might be worth doing the HSS bypass which involves routing the vacuum feed from the back of the plenum directly to the FPR instead of via the HSS (and blanking off a small pipe to the elephants trunk). I can point you to a how-to for a CA if that helps.

The HSS drop the fuel pressure when warm starting making it easier to start and less likely to flood.

It just goes direct from the plenum to the fpr on an sr unfortunately. I wonder of the coolant temp sensor is faulty or something?

Could be, especially if the engine has been laid up for a while. ETS usually don't like being exposed to the elements.

It is a sign of temp sensor saying it's still cold

Can you provide a diagram of exactly how you have powered up the ecu?

I followed the sr to s13 guide to wire it up.

So you have the ECCS relay still powered up by the ecu and providing power to the correct places?

Yup the blue ones. I haven't changed any of that wiring.

I've got some Viton on orings coming from a local supplier so will see what happens.

Well i have changed the Orings and tbh the old ones looked fine. Unfortunately its still the same! It seems to run on after the ignition is switched off though which is not normal but im not sure what would cause this other than too much fuel?

On a CA changing temp sensor fix this problem. Try unpluging temp sensor and then try to start when engine is warm.

It will start when it's left for 5 mins, could it still be the temp sensor?

I did the timing and had a temperature sensor fault but not sure if it was because I have had stuff unplugged? Can I get a sensor from a motor factor or does it need to be a Nissan part? I can't see it but can you check what it's reading on datascan?

Yes you can monitor water temp, should be around 78-80degrees when fully warmed up.
