Spark plugs (I know its been covered)

Been trolling through the spark plugs and wondering which ones to get.

Not standard spec running just under 1bar of boost, always tend to use iridium plugs on my other cars but seen different part numbers etc. car will be getting nistune etc in next couple months and planning big service this weekend

    Cheers

Lol! Copper will last about a month so buy the irridiums and forget about them for 24 months. Just taken off my Bkr8eix that have done 2 years, thousands of hard miles on track mainly and they looked fine. I only changed them because they'd been in so long. Replaced with exactly the same. Denso's last about as long as the coppers so I wouldn't entertain them neither.

To be honest copper plugs are fine mate, I use them and change them annually and have never had an issue

Im just about to swap out my plugs, it'll be running stage 2 sr20 pretty soon but currently lacks a boost controller so is on standard boost until i get one. Will 7's be good for me or will i need 8's?

Use 7s for upto 350ish bhp, above that then think about 8s

Gap how they come out the box as you can easily fook the tip.

Eh? Mine's been running the same coppers for a year and a half so far and they're still fine. Must be something up if they only last a month in yours.

NGK make very good spark plugs.

Their copper plugs should last at least 10K miles in a healthy engine and cost around a quarter of what you would pay for iridium plugs.
They are easy to set the gap on, especially if you use the plain ones and not the v-grooved ones.
Unless you pay extra for the pre-gapped ones, you will need to set the gap using a feeler gauge. As most people don't run the standard gap, buying pre-gapped ones is a bit of a waste but if you can't get the ungapped ones, they are only about a quid a set dearer.

NGKs iridium plugs should last 60K miles in a healthy engine. They cost around 4 times as much as a set of coppers.
They're very hard to gap properly with a feeler gauge and come pregapped. Many iridiums have a v-grooved ground electrode.
The preset gap on iridiums is smaller than on coppers.
If your engine is running lean or rich, the iridiums won't last very long at all before they pack up. This is because they have a finer central electrode so erosion of the tip is much more noticeable.

In terms of value for money, you need to be doing big miles and keeping the car for a lot of miles to make your money on a set of iridiums.

I run coppers, clean them at every service and replace them every 10K.
