Motorbikes: Touring, Considering a BMW GS1150, anyone any experience?

I know its abit random for this forum, but feel that there are plenty of bikers on here.

Im considering selling my Sprint ST 1050, and getting a GS1150, go go around france for a couple of weeks this summer.

I know the Sprint would do it, but its not comfortable enough for me and the wife.

Its the first time i'll have done this, anyone got any advice about the bike or the trip??

Brings back memories reading this when the wife and myself used to do about 20,000 miles year touring all over Europe for holidays, plus weekend motor bike rallies even
went as far as Russia that was an experience never forgotten, Honda 750/Bmw R90 , enjoy.

Yer started going abroad by bike from 1968/82 made some good friends over there, still very close to two of them but unfortunately due to one of them having bad health
I see less of them but keep in touch by phone, back then you were made very welcome by people on the continent if you were a biker to do 600/800/1000 round trip in a weekend was nothing. make the most of it.

    Cheers bud Trying to !

The lass isnt loving the back seat of my Sprint ST 1050, so just looking at the bmw's, GS seem to hold mega money,..but im not bothered about off roading so tempted by the R1150 RT ..... it may come with some pipe and slippers too

Ha ha last bike I had was a Kawasaki GPz900R fast good handling, not as comfortable for the pillion as the R90sBMW that was a good touring bike.
