    Best air cone filter

    Hi guys,

Wondering what air filter set up everyone uses. Was thinking of buying a universal apexi power intake on ebay? This has probably been brought up before but can't seem to find any threads. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Regards
    Chris

Apexi seems to be the most common choice but beware eBay is full of fakes.

Yep, another vote for Apexi. Have a HKS mushroom on my Aristo and Apexi is way better IMO.

The fake apexi. Says dual fannel air filter on the top of the cone.
The genuine say. Dual funnel air filter

I get it buy fake buy twice and all that but I've had both apexi genuine and now a fake just to make it more cosmetically appealing and the only thing is the plastics feel a bit thinner and the print on top isn't the best but when the difference can be 100-150 quid or whatever daft price a genuine one is with fitting bracket you just can't tell IMO fake eBay apexi I got was 18 quid, Greg at pro tuner was mapping my mates car, and did pass the comment that for his setup aiming towards (500bhp) that the apexi style filter wasn't big enough to flow as efficant as he wanted it too, so recommended a k&n man size filter (8'' long I think ish, again can get fake one on eBay for about 20 quid)

Not knocking that buying fake is a daft idea, for turbos and such, I just think when it boils down to a air filter I think only siZe matters there's very little a copy could get wrong unless it wasn't glued together properly. Please do pass comment if anyone has had a experience against my statement I will hold my hands up like I said just IMO

Genuine A'pexi air filter should say "Dual funnel air filter" twice... not "produced by apexi .co ltd or apexera"

Obviously it wasn't a genuine A'PEXi one then

I'm rather sure it was genuine.

Look at this picture for example. Do you think fake ones come with Apex'i certificate or what ever that paper is:

If it says " produced by apex " I'm still gonna have to assume it's fake.

Fakes can come with replica certificates too. Another difference is on the back of the filter the quality and size of the bolt holes.

AEM Dryflow. Produced by K&N for AEM. Got mine from Sumo Power for not a lot of money. Seems to perform just as well as the Apexi it replaced. K&N are a reputable brand but their oiled filters are not for me. Too much hassle. Size isn't everything. Quality is more important.

Nothing wrong with a K&N - cheap and good quality. The internet 'ruin your AFM' myth comes from people pouring an entire refinery's worth of the oiling solution onto the filter.

The one I had was identical to the two other Apex'i filters I had to every detail except for the text (funnel vs. fannel).
One was from FRSport and the other from Driftworks. I don't think either of them would sell fake products..
