    A Wardy88 Turbo Project - Honda Accord Type R

Some may remember me for the RB30/26 s14a others for manifolds.

Well here goes Ive been asked to build a Turbo Honda Accord Type R to run a steady 600ish hp but be reliable at the same time. I kindly accepted the challenge the car was then dropped off with a substantial amount of money to get the ball rolling.

Here is some pictures from when it was dropped off

Brief Engine spec to consist of

    CP pistons
    Manley rods
    Darton mid sleeves
    supertech valve springs & retainers
    ARP headbolts
    Wardy88 top mount manifold

and the part that blows the wind is this ......

    A BorgWarner S366 billet wheel

Anyway ill leave it at that for now ill update as and when.

Just wanted to be the first to say it ha ha.

Seriously it looks like a good project to follow, but how are you going to get the power down via fwd?

What box/clutch/diff etc you thinking of going for?

The ATR is a very under rated car and great sleeper.

I always wanted an h22 in my civic, 600bhp would be awsome should keep it a sleeper, the b16 civics make a easy 300bhp safe but dont know about the h22 with a turbo.

i cant be leave the first post wasn't a haha or vtec init lol

As for getting the power to the floor it will have to be boost by gear but i dare say will still be a handle full. FWD is always a poor platform for power as when you accelerate the weight moves to the rear loosing traction over the front.( you already know this but for others ...)

As for box/ diff im just in negotiations with a company in the states on my options. Transmission is a concern tho

The engine will be reliable but i think transmission will be the down fall.

It will stay a sleeper with a more standard looking exhaust on the rear as opposed to the chav cans.

ive just sold a aerodeck vti which i turbo'd it was a fun car to drive and looked like a grandad car

    Turbod aerodeck? Thats awsome man.

I do not know where it is now but i was in at performance tek and Complete Auto Solutions on seperate occasions where i saw the same car getting different work done, it was a DAP MB6 VTI with a K24 turbo/supercharger cant remember which one but i always wanted to see that go but have never seen it on the internet yet, that thing was a sleeper if i ever did see one.

why 600bhp ? .. is there a reason why he is aiming for 600bhp

surely for road use having a bit less would make is more reliable and come on song quicker ... and for track, surely less would be more reliable .... so its either got to be drag use or a giant giant penis extension .. biiiig massive wanger jobbie ?

OR ... are the engines ripe for that sort of power in the same way the mx5 is ripe for 230bhp

or hes doing it because he can/wants to?

there isnt always a justification for doing something as extravegent as a hobby.

not everything is a means to an end, sometimes the means is the end in itself.

Its just a daily driver, for some 400hp just isn't enough for the daily commute.

The engines have FRM liners which means you cant just stick any old forged piston in as it will react. You can how ever get Mahle Gold series pistons which are designed for use with FRM liners and but no one seems to want to push to the limit. Hence going for Darton mid sleeves and CP pistons.

The turbo is rated 550 - 830hp so it would be most happy in the 600's with 2 bar of boost but for that we will have to wait and see.

Its all about personal preference. To buy something quick there is no enjoyment but to build something quick and use it to its full potential gets addictive thats my personal opinion

I built the rb30/26 s14a took me 12month drove it for a few month but never scratched that itch and i broke for parts.

Anyway some parts arrived today from the states

I will open them when i have time to show you all some automotive filth

    UPDATE TIME

Turbo test fitment was a success power steering line will need a tweak. The bay will look tight when its all built especially running a 3.5" downpipe alternator will be relocated to the air-con position with a funky bracket.

As Friday did nothing but rain i decided to pull the engine out to get ready to be machined. only took a hour so i didn't get too wet.

swiftly pulled the box off and got the engine on the stand to commence battle, Look at all the goodies

    Thanks for looking

    Thanks for the comments guys.

    A little update []

Decided to make the the manifold before tearing the engine down to go for machining. You will notice the PS pump is staying even tho it is a top mount setup, cant justify loosing it for the couple of ponys it sucks.

And then turbo was added to double check fitment [] alternator still requires bracket making but where it is situated gave me a good guideline for the fabrication of the manifold.

    Thanks for looking
