Just an update.
RB25 conversion is FULLY underway.
Money has finally landed in the bank. Viewing an engine tonight. Complete with absolutely everything for £1100.
Just trying to sort a wiringharness now.
So I viewed a RB25 engine local last night.
Compression tested, and run for 20 minutes idled lovely. It's on 103,000 which is a mixture of KM/Miles as it's an import donor. The other bonus is the engine has been a auto it's life. With only a 3' exhaust.
I couldn't believe how good he condition was when we popped he bonnet. It's costing me £1100. Which is a complete drop in swap minus a gearbox as I'll be utilising my SR box until I can afford a r33 gearbox. However that may entirely change depending on how long the car will take to complete.
I'm paying the same garage £200 to yank out my SR and drop the RB back in on its mounts and get the car in a rolling position again. To which I will finish the gearbox, loom, radiator myself etc. as well as work out the best way of making my inter cooler work.
Can't wait to get the car back from the welder a on the 1st and push this to have its heart ripped out!
Transplant time!
When do you get yours back from the welders? Can't be long now...
Well, SPA are taking the car on the 10th/11th June. He told me 3 day at a push if he's going to keep it.
I'll have it back with the engine mounted back in, crossmember on.
Now i just picked up an RB20 turbo bell housing, so i am hoping (fingers very crossed) that the box with the new housing will bolt directly to the engine with my new RB25 clutch. - Then comes the prop.. I have NO idea if the prop is going to fit as it is? - Would it need modification? I bloody hope not.
If the prop will need cutting im going to put the whole project on hold and save for an R33 gearbox and just do the whole swap properly and in one go. If the SR box fits. Ultimately its cost me an RB25 clutch, and £50 in fuel and collecting the bell housing. So id of only thrown £50 down the drain, worth a shot in my eyes!
I also have to work out the radiators. Am i going to fit an S13/R33 one. Or, go Ally but cut a section of my slam panel out roughly 2'inches to get more clearance and the radiator can sit in the recess i have cut out. Then i need to get a few slimline fans fitted, and possible a vent cut into the bonnet as im going to struggle with engine temperatures at times i think.
Just about in conversations about having my loom made, but in the UK by someone who is ALOT less money!
So. I was um'ing and ar'ing over a clutch.
Eventually, i just thought f*ck it. I need something i can slap on now, and literally forget about.
So... just ordered this.
£359.99 delivered. - Rated to 525ft/lbs torque. Plenty online running 500bhp+ and not a problem.
My first RB25 part! Exciting times!
Cool
You got a flywheel yet?
Prop shortening is only around £50. But I'd go straight for the RB25 box if I was you. SR boxes are cheese
Nice, where did you get the clutch from?
Getting there bud, good work
Think it was £359.99 delivered. (Next day)

Thank you appreciate it! Slowly Slowly!!

21/05/15.
Nothing much to comment on lately. The car is still with the welders who have usability of it with a running SR20 engine until June 10th. That's the day i'll collect it, roll it to the other side of the industrial estate and the heart will be comming out.
So far, i have found a person on Driftworks who is happy to cut the RB25 & SR20 looms together to make my hybrid harness. His services are £120 and take roughly a week from when he gets them. But, it'll be plug an play. I was toying with the idea of going with the hybrid WiringSpecialties £480 harness and they keep emailing me. But, i cannot justify that for a "tucked" loom. Maybe in the future i would swap it out.
Im tryin to work out the best way of mounting the twin fans. + what way i need them to point. Silly questions but im confusing myself about it. Does the visous fan cool the radiator, or the engine? - So, will my fans need to blow at the engine, or onto the back of the radiator?
This is somthing im toying with using, along with a similar sized ally radiator..
I think i could mount that behind the rad quite nicely, and it will look a good touch!
Mate, I've got one of those ally shrouds, with twin fans.
It's new and unused, but the shroud needs some mounting brackets welding on.
Cheapy cheap (especially if you don't need your hot pipe )
Top job on saving this car mate. Serious work done and its nice to see someone who doesnt just scrap it - ive seen far better shells crushed.
One question, do you know what brand the coilovers are? Ive got an identical looking set on mine and cant figure it out. They ride quite well for what appear to be cheap ebay jobbies.
Just read through the build, nicely done i must say. Cant wait to see how the RB25 performs as the transplant has crossed my mind once or two, but not for a few years haha. Cant wait to see how this turns out.
