A LOT of things you're doing here is what i have planned for mine!! haha. Can't believe the original owner matted over the purple... Purple is the way forward... regarding the SR box, mines taking between 340-380bhp daily and happy I am also going to put in a tablet but i'm bulk saving (or at least bulk attempting) to get everything in one buy kinda thing... I want a complete new sound system when i do mine as i cant hear mine over the Zorst unless it's really loud/crackly.... lul... If thinking of a 2jz in mine though... little bit heretic perhaps?... LOVE the 2jz sound.... But VERY well done regarding your dedication to this. VERY inspirational just need a white kouki spoiler and shazam.... dare i ask what the running cost up to this point has been?... If you're going to the weekender i'll see you there
This is the reason i made a thread. Purely for others to have a nose and take knowledge away. - i hope this build has helped should you choose the 2J route.
One thing to note though, Your look at £1000 just for an appropiate gearbox on a 2JZ. Where as an RB box is half that at £500. (Saying that.. by the time the £400 ACT clutch went in....urghh!)
Sound system should be cool with the tablet. I'm by no menas near-on completion with that, but it's started. Sound system is on my list too! Just got some VIBE uprated speakers and a sub. Does me well for now! Always wanted a neat audio install though.
I think i'll go with a rocket bunny spoiler. Something about the kouki puts me off!
Really like this rear bumper/spoiler combo
As for costs.. please dont make me cry.
Your thread has definitely helped It's a hugely resourceful thread even just for information. \
I used to dislike the kouki and love the rocket bunny... but it's allllll changed now haha
A decent sound system has always been something i've wanted... but not as much as power haha I'll be keeping my 14a for a long while though so it'll all be done though
You going to weekender? I've love to see this face to face
Don't mean to make you cry ... think of boost
That white leopard print looks the dogs danglys.
Thanks mate, it means a lot to here that! Especially from a newer member who's stumbled onto my thread.
Power>Sound!!
But, having a nice sound is always good. As you said earlier, drowns out the exhaust on long journeys!
Weekender, i had planned on going. Reserved a slot, but i've just had to pull out. (Sounds filthy)
Just too much going on, car's not in a driving position yet. Still needs £200-£300 in a propshaft and all the oils/fluids. Just isn't going to happen.
Will 100% be coming to the next SXOC weekender/big organised meet! Need to meet everyone to be honest. I've only attended one in the South for 30 minutes as it was rainin!!
Agree! Looks mischievous!
Yea man, i've always liked the s14a's my step brother had a blue s13 at stage 3/a? some people might know him on here.. His name's Jake. But ever since i went in that i wanted an sbody but i prefer the 14 to 13 by a margin haha.
Power always comes first (again... sounds filthy) but since i'm having my 14 for a long time im not too fussed as to timing for the music Exhaust on boost is music enough
Shame about the weekender was looking forward to seeing you and your car! Next time or something though man
Keep up the good work!!
First of all apologies on my absence!
The summers the busiest times with my work!
Anyway, not much has been bubbling away really this month been working 13 hour days. But today we got a good crack at the radiator. Angle grinding and fettling until in it sat in a good position.
I actually managed to get the viscous fan to fit. I didn't have the intentions too, but the fan shroud I have is just too wide. It's nearly 2.5inches wide an just isn't going to fit. So I'm banking on the viscous fan doing its job and keeping the engine cool, and I'll fit a smaller fan to the front of the radiator to flick on if in traffic etc and it trips the thermostat.
Finally feel I'm making progress now. And me and some friends have agreed were spend a few nights a week finishing the little bits off.
Still need to re-wire all my gauges as when I installed them they wasn't done great, and I used some old cables already run, so I'd rather require those and feel happy.
Then I need to extend the starter motor main+ and the trigger plugs as they're too short. I'm hopping if I splice carefully into the main loom I should be able to pull 6-10 more inches of wire out so there be no need to cut/splice.. Considering there's a lot of volts on the starter main + I imagine and don't wanna burn the car out!
So yeah.. Gotta bolt the radiator down, but I need to drill the holes through the metal first, I'm going to paint the little pieces that tie it down the same colour as my RB26 rocker covers that are going on!
It's a tight squeeze!
Nearly there!......

Yay good work dude looking forward to the first start video!!! You going to make it to jap finale in it mate? Say yes
Had THE phone call i've been waiting on for 2/3 weeks.
The guy has told me to bring the car down on Thursday morning for the downpipe to be cut and welded. Will be done same day if not, Friday.
Whilst it's there ill get myself down there and measure the propshaft lengths so i can know 100% in my own head if it needs lengthening or shortening at all. Im hoping it doesn't as the yoke swap is only £100! But we'll see...
Pics for attention.. but i am really started to get excited about it being back!!!!
This arrived today!
1m braided fuel hose, can't use the blue silicone i've bunged on for now. That stuff disintegrates at the sight of fuel its scary!
I'll throw these on tonight and i plan on re-wiring all my gauges, fitting my radiator pipes and wiring my water temperature gauge. So everything inside will nearly be done!
Who's Grace?
7am this morning being dropped off for downpipe welding!
Hopefully she'll be back tonight so i can tinker all day tomorrow. (Day off my Birthday) otherwise i'll be disappointed!
Had a look at my prop-shaft and decided a YOKE swap will be enough. The yoke will sit roughly 2cm(20mmm) out the end of the box to allow for movement. Surely being butted all the way in without ANY movement is a bad idea??
Then whilst i was underneath i finally managed to take a decent picture of the welding for either side!
Will update further this evening!
Time for a little update..
So Friday was my birthday and i had Friday and Monday off for a long weekend. Spent Friday and Monday running around like a headless chicken trying to organise the prop to be dealt with. - Nightmare. In the end i gave up on Friday and rang some actual prop shaft specialist as finding a decent engineering company was proving too difficult in my area.
Ended up at this old chaps place!
What a unit. A barn on his land. Been doing it for 50 odd years... 2 hours later and i was presented with this!
So.. with the downpipe and propshaft done... the only thing holding me back currently is things that i need to do myself.
I picked up a R33 skyline throttle cable as the 200sx is too short when using the original RB25 throttle body and the radiator hoses. 1 black the other typically red! .. Annoying considering my white/blue theme! Oh well, anything to get me on the road!
After spending god knows how many hours working out my tablet loom soldering and wiring everything together, then realising i'd f*cked up and starting again.. (Was really happy about that!!! ) I decided to invest in a 4 channel Kenwood 500w AMP. I was oringally going to just throw a mini-amp in.. but i wanted something i can hide and forget..
I ran all the tablet wiring, fitted the USB mini-hub then mocked up the tablet into the dashboard to get a feel of what it would actually look/be like to use. Im actually really happy with it. The only thing left to do is attach all the wiring, trim the centre console double din thingy and trim some plastic behind the double din area to accommodate for a 3.5mm jack and a mini-usb hanging out the side so space gets quite tight. But with a trim here and there.. it should fit.. (i hope...)
Pictures of tablet, UN-MOUNTED yet. Just resting behind the din slot.
Working on the car again tonight;
Going to try and get the gaskets fitted on the downpipe
Refit the propshaft
Fit the R33 throttle cable
and lengthen my start motor trigger wire.
Nearly there...!
