    Glowplugs don't usually do much in direct injection engines.

    IIRC they're not needed unless you're doing a cold start in sub zero temperatures.

    Exactly, its a bit concerning that a garage is telling him they are the problem and then go onto to the old "dirt in the fuel tank" excuse ............ Id prefer them just to say "we dont know" TBH.

    No idea if it's related but I had a similar problem with my Mazda 3 - it took 6 months to find out the cause but turned out it was the injector rail. Something to do with fuel pressure randomly dropping off.

    (the high pressure pump attached to the engine was one of the items they replaced - badly as it turned out, when I discovered diesel leaking everywhere )

    Christ thats desperate, how long before they tell you the flux capacitor is out of alignment
