    Front Mounts

Hi I wanna get a front mount kit for my s14a but I dont really know whats good and whats not.
I was hopping as well to be able to keep my fog lights but the ones I have seen look like you have to get rid of them. I havnt started pulling anymore power out of the engine yet but I want to get an intercooler thats gonna be big enough for what ever I want to do.
    Can anyone help me please?

Just get the apex type 2 mate, I've had both and this fits straight on the type 1 is so much hassle. It depends how u fit it, I've spent ages adjusting it just enough to clear the lights- that's a type 2, the other one no chance.

I'm looking at coolers, I was just gonna get an ebay special £170 jobber. I was gonna get a japspeed £300 one, but don't see the point as it's a simple item anyway, just a radiator that cools air?

My mate has an ebay one on his s14a and it's been fine for over a year with some drift days.

I'm fine with cutting a hole in my battery tray and getting a new battery anyway.

what does that look like from the front? i would guess you cant really see it. would a normal intercooler sit straight behind the bumper instead of right in front of the rad?

Yeah you can't really see it but the type 1 and type 2 both sit right at the front of the bumper

Not only that but japspeed have many different names on eBay, they are the by word in cheap Chinese products! Some of it is fine, some of it won't last forever, like you say to a point an intercooler is fairly straightforward but it seems hit and miss with regards to bends etc, some kind of fit and some seem to need more modifying than others. The silicones are hit and miss too, but they should all be good enough to get up and running

Type 1 is the biggest (requires lots of cutting etc) basically ebay/japspeed
Type 2 is slightly smaller (requires no cutting but comes with shed load of pipe work)

Type 2 is sold by apex only but don't bother trying to get on to them about one as you get the same reply year after year "not in stock no date from supplier"

We'll there's odd few that comes up second hand on here from £100-£150, other than that what ever you choose unless it's PBM one you will have to cut away bits, mind you I had to cut just 2 sections on mine

+1, another vote for the PBM setup. Nice short pipe-run and high quality core.

Ebay ones are absolutely fine for moderate power and exactly the same as the one Japspeed sell.

is bigger better when it comes to intercoolers, been told that the biggest not always the best as it can cause turbo lag, is there a way to work out what you need for different horse power outputs

From company quotes the type 2 is good for 400hp, type 1 (ebay) is good for 600hp, and the high mount 450hp, but as said above the short pipe work is very responsive on mine, however never driven one with the other types

    ahh thanks

so a type one i would have to cut bits away.
type two i would fit straight in
and a PBM should mostly fit straight in and i would get to keep my fogs
