    S14a Emerald green fsh 80k

    Hi,
    Just bought a s14a with 80k on the clock
    Has a dump valve fitted and stainless steel cat back system

    its doesn't feel as fast as I thought though
    have owned an e30 325 with 175 bhp
    a 306 gti6 with 167bhp and expected it to be an awful lot faster

    Seem to have a lot of turbo lag aswell , no where near as responsive as either of those two cars it doesn't seem to get lively till above 4500-5000,

    don't know whether this is just me or is this normal


    have been reading a lot on the forum and I understand the wmic could be on its last legs as its never been touched

    sounds like something isn't right , check the wing mount for cracks and holes in pipework

    Is there anyway I can tell for cracks, or will it be pretty obvious?
    ,also I understand the turbo gaskets go around 70 k or so? could this make it down on power?

    I don't know whether it is me, as when flawed it seems to go well, just doesn't seem to be responsive on lower revs

    turbo gaskets can go at any time if the nuts aren't tight.

    you should try and get a local member who knows the car to get a look around it

    just a thought - I bought exactly the same car as you, green s14a, 80k, fsh, stupid dump valve haha
    the guy hadnt installed the dump valve properly - the pipework was blocked off with junk and an absolute mess.


    try get hold of the original pipework - or study some pictures and pipe it all back up to the standard recirc valve.
    mine was hesitating and not revving past 4500-5000 rpm, not boosting properly, horrible boost leaks, and just setting it back to standard turned it back into a proper quick car.

    Oh k thanks, may be worth me checking out that dump valve, how ca. I check for boost leaks or would it just be a case of

    Doh! Ignore my question about colour haha. I think I still have some boost piping left over from my red dress kit, pop over Saturday morning if you can and it's not p1ssing it down. I've pmd ya my address

    Inbox has space now I'll probs be up and fiddling about by 10. I will have a look best I can, But I won't remove anything unless it's looking ok. Hot side of the sr20 has a tendency to snap / break if it's not been lubed up or off recently
