engine runs on for about 10n seconds after i turn the ignition off??
Basically when i turn the key off i hear the fuel pump go off and all the lights on the dash and what not go out as they should but the engine stills runs for about 10 seconds then comes to a spluttering death.
now i have noticed that when i remove the key there is power still going to the ignition and ecu relay and they only switch off if i turn of my battery cut off switch.
So to me its seems as if there is still power getting to things after I've turned the ignition off i.e there's still power getting to the coils which are giving the car a spark so the engine continues to run until the fuel that's in the rail has been burnt then it dies.
could i be right or am i totally wrong. oh and car runs fine.
any help would be greatly appreciated before i call out an auto spark.

Sounds like you're spot on. But I don't know how to fix it. You will need to look at the ignition wiring.

Not really got a clue but check the wiring over the osf wheel. My car did crazy things when the wheel rubbed through it and melted the wires

Have you played with the ecu? Possibly a NATS issue?
-

Ecu has the nats removed and the car runs absolutely fine.
The loom has been relocated over the arch also so there's no damage from scrubbing.

some form of magical turbo timer?
Do you have a constant live going to your ignition? i.e even when the car turns off is there still a spark?
-
Guest
No turbo timer as the car doesn't come to a nice instant stop it sorta splutters and slowly dies.
Yes it seems as though when I've turned the ignition off and taken the key out that there may well be power still getting to the coil pack which is letting the plugs still spark and turn over the engine until the fuel that left in there has been burned then the engine dies.

When it runs on, does it misfire or run correctly until it dies?
-

No misfires as in pops or bangs. Just ticks over for a couple of seconds then begins to die as if it's getting starved of fuel. Which it will be as I can hear the fuel pump go off as soon as I turn the ignition off.

Who done the wiring? Sounds like the cas, coils, injectors are wired up to a permanent live instead of ignition live
-
Guest
ecu relays get a permanent live and the ecu decides itself when to shut them down

The only wiring I touched was the ecu to engine loom then wired the engine loom section and fuse box power to the battery.
So your saying the ecu and ignition relays should have a permanent live so I can forget about that?
Cheers for the help so far guys!

According to wiring diagram ECCS relay gets permanent live and coil relay gets ignition live, then they get switched on and off by the ecu.

Did this ever get resolved?

could it be pre ignition maybe air leak, What about the cam angle sensor splines are they worn ?.
