    Harris likes it.

    I'm neutral. Maybe it's car-xenophobia.

I think it looks great there, and I love the video, but notice how he's only in love with it when he gets to drive it sideways. Guys so much fun, but most of us will never drive it that way.

Still, if I had £35k on a new car, I would probably go for it

"It's never really worked in Europe"

No that's because in Europe we have "corners" and cars in Europe tend to need half decent "handling".

Both of which are almost non existent in the US, where motor sport tends to be straight lines.

2000 have now been ordered in the UK

'So far, 80 per cent of UK customers have opted for the fastback body style over the convertible and 70 per cent have specified the 416PS 5.0-litre V8 engine over the more fuel-efficient 317PS 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine.'

Should be plenty of 5.0 fastbacks on the second hand market pretty soon

Looking on the US site they are nearly twice as much over here

US list price is $25k for the 2.3T and $32k for the V8. UK ones are the equiv of $47k and £53k

How do they justify that? All tax and VAT? Presumably prices in the states also have to include some taxes though?

They get sales tax, but it varies state to state.

Is the UK base model a higher spec?

You can add about $25k of options to the US base model

Just had a quick look on the Ford site, and set my location to 4 different cities (NYC, LA, Boston & Miami) which have different rates of state sales tax, and the prices stayed the same.
To me, that says the price you see in the US is not the full cost to get it on the road, whereas in the UK dealers show the "On The Road" price.

Apparently the UK cars come with a lot of the performance options as standard which US cars don't.

Also, the V8 is being upgraded to 500bhp in 18 months, wonder if any of the tweaks will be retrofittable?

Depends on what they do, the Shelby Mustang is already being advertised in America and it's got loads of fun goodies on.
