Le Mans 24 2014 - Retour du Dendroctone

Its that time of year again .............

Following successful SXOC raids on Le Mans for the last 5 years now, I see absolutely no reason why we shouldnt do it all over again. So, in ***** Christmas meal style:

WHAT: Only the greatest endurance race of them all, the 82nd running of the 24 Heures Du Mans in the middle of France.

WHERE: Le Mans, stupid. Its about 4 hours into France at the Circuit de la Sarthe, and consists of 13.6km of some of the fastest raceway in the world, with cars reaching nearly 230mph down the straights and averaging 150mph round the whole circuit. There are campsites at various points around the circuit and after a successful one last year our weapon of choice this year will be HOUX ANNEXE which is nicely situated near Tetre Rouge.

WHEN: The race itself is Saturday June 14 - Sunday 15, but the SXOC crew tend to head over on the preceding Wednesday and come back on the following Monday. That said, a certain band of reprobates turned up halfway through the race and left before it was finished last year so its pretty each going

HOW (much): Prices go up every year and this one is no exception - a week long entrance ticket will set you back £75 and a camping ticket (one required for each vehicle) will be £95, so 2 sharing a car are looking at £122.50 each. Its 450km from Calais, and we generally say that you can eat and drink for the week for about EUR 100 if you dont go crazy.

WHY: Coz its a proper laugh - the SXOC van is in full effect with the disco, marquee, cold, cold fridges, barbecue setup, TV, smoke machine and hopefully some lasers this year and we rock the frickin place. Apparently theres this motor race on as well as a bit of a sideshow

WHO: Dont know yet, thats the point of the thread
However it promises to be one of the best LMP1 races for ages, with Toyota and Audi locking horns again and Porsche coming back after a spell away along with all the usual LMP2 and GT cars in support, I personally cant wait

So if you are interest, stick your name down below and we'll get this show on the road. Ive spoken to our usual booking company and they have said that things are moving much quicker than usual so Ill need to know if youre interested by 06/12 and Ill probably need money in early January, so get cracking.

I dont need to remind you that anyone coming will need to be members chaps, that ladies are not allowed* and that there will be a fair level of homosexual behaviour.

    * there is an exception to this rule but you dont want to know what it is
