I hope you find something causing it,as nothing worse than checking something over and all seems good,
hopefully its some thing cheap and simple like pick up pipe 'O' ring

Think I may have found the problem. Busy helping another local so not had a chance to fire up and test. Got 2 bar cranking though, if I get chance, will fit ic and start her tomorrow
Yay
Noob question but what actually is that part? Oil pick upin the sump?

Looks like the oil pickup, if its cracked its prob not able to get up a decent pressure.
Now you need to find the missing bit of o-ring.
According to facebook he's found it

Cool, that will be sucking fresh air with a gap/bit missing like that and cause a pressure drop
I nearly guessed right as well (ok I posted I hope its something simple like pick up pipe O ring)
I really hope it was a pressure issue and not a blockage. Will find out shortly, although have a turbo to fit on a Mates car first and he has bloody abs!!! Grrrrr!!!
Thanks for the advice guys. New I would find it just quicker when you look in the obvious places ;-)
So finally got time today to run the engine up to temp. Still tapping and looks like very little oil getting to the head.
Oil pressure is now bang on. Where to start if looking for a blockage? Cam lobes or some where in the block?
Need some advice on this, never had to look for an oil blockage

The most probable place is the oil restrictor jet in the top of the block. After that it passes up the head bolt hole, inlet side 2nd from rear. If there was dirt under the bolt washer that could result in a leak. There is a drilling into the bolt hole that connects with the inlet side gallery. There is a cross drilled passage to the exhaust side.
Any idea how to clear a blockage?
I understand the oil system and passages but they are all internal, how do I find the blockage and then clear it? Sounds stupid but would an engine flush help? or an air pressure line pushing the blockage back?
Is the restricter jet one way valve?
Nothing other than pull it apart again.
No. When the head is off if you don't get oil out the restrictor when you crank the motor than it's in the block. If you do get oil then it's in the head. Then it comes down to removing the oil gallery plugs and cleaning with the sort of tools that are used to clean small bore rifles. If it's the block remove the restrictor and clean that rising feed.
No it's just a plug of metal with a small hole ~1mm.
Its the block then, I cranked when the head was off and no oil out the restrictor at 2 bar. Dont like the sound of taking the oil gallery plugs out but needs must. I will get her back on the road for spring 2013.
Will be whipping the head off again then
Thanks for the info man

Interesting, there's a little valve in there. I bet mine is blocked
That valve in the nico thread is in oil filter housing on the block, and is a bypass for a blocked filter so you don't starve your engine. The restrictor for the head is just has been described above, a metal plug with a hole in it.
The GTR (RB26) guys fit smaller restrictors to limit the oil getting to the head with track engines. All they do is get another restrictor and push the current restrictor further in the head, this isn't going to help you though. The only thing i can think of (although i wouldn't want to do it on an assembled engine) is drill and tap the restrictor and then pull it out.
I had the same problem a little while back, ended up changing the block , http://youtu.be/3FhSCHFZk-g this is wat pressure is meant to be
Yeah restriction was in place,
This is good info, thanks.
