    Recreating dash finish and colour?

I'm about to attempt to create a custom radio surround for an iPad. Making it is fairly straight forward using fibreglass, the problem for me is matching the OEM dash finish. I don't want a smooth and glossy finish, I want the matte grainy finish of OEM.

Has anyone ever attempted this or seen it done before? I've never seen anything about it online or searching.

Any hints or tips would be helpful!

You will newer get it like oem, but there is a tick paint for this, that will give matte grainy finish. I think its used for black bumpers.
Here is one example from google

Its high res so you can zoom in on the texture.

That or you can wrap it with some matching film if you find it.

A pal of mine who owns a bodyshop painted my gauge cluster in this way. He said it was a bit of a ballache, but I was pleased with the outcome.

That looks pretty good. Do you know the name of the product?

Also looks really good! It isn't like the OEM, but I don't think you would notice on the radio surround. Any idea how he achieved it?

    Thanks everyone!

It blends in nicely with the dash. There is a picture of it fitted further on in my build thread. I'll have a chat to him and report back.

that in doggy's link looks like a version of the VHT wrinkle spray like honda and ferrari have on their rocker covers.
