Ten of the Best (TOTB), is a performance road car event run by Straightliners Ltd, aimed at finding the best all round car and drivers in Europe. Handling, top speed and a 1/4m drag strip are used to determine the best of the best, Ten Of The Best!
All cars that compete in our main road competition class are road legal, taxed, tested and insured. There is also a new "pro-drag class" for the ultimate drag specific cars. Many of the cars that compete at TOTB are modified, some to the extreme. Many of the entrants have built and modified their own vehicles, while others represent the cream of the crop from the Tuners and Garages that specialise in the types of cars entered to compete.

Points are awarded in each of the three events overall, making it extremely difficult to score points in all events, unless the car and driver are on top form!
The Pro-Drag class will have its own shootout final and trophy, with regular head to head runs during the event.

Individual classes are also used to determine class trophies:

    FWD (front wheel drive)

    RWD (rear wheel drive)

    4WD (four wheel drive)

The teams who take part are also battling it out for the TOTB team Trophy, a highly contested piece of silverware.

Ten of the Best brings together modern high tech and high spec cars, along with high power retro classics, giving all a chance to show their prowess on the day. Entrants come from most of the UK and European car clubs and groups, along with individual entries and invited Tuner cars.

Ten of the Best events are aimed at road going all round cars for the Overall Champion award, which is only open to road legal, taxed/sorned, MOT tested road vehicles.
Specific tyre rules are now in place to enter the road car class, MSA list one A and one B

Wrinkle wall dot drag tyres will be allowed on all sub 11sec cars DRAG STRIP ONLY

Wrinkle wall slick drag tyres are only allowed in our Pro-drag class which has evolved into a competition in its own right, featuring the Uk's fastest drag cars.

All road class competitors must present their driving license, V5, current road tax/sorn and valid MOT on the day.

    Club Teams:
Club teams taking part at TOTB can consist of 5 to 10 cars of any make but one make clubs will get 4 extra starting points for the event

Handling circuit drivers are allowed 5 timed runs from 10.30 untill 2.30 then the top 5 in each class will get 2 more runs to find the top two drivers who will then go into the finals for each class. There will be awards for the top driver in each class as well as the overall winner and points will be awarded accordingly

The shootouts will take place at 2.45 for the top 5 cars in each class and the final should be at approx 4.15

Saturday Boot Camp is open to all fully paid up competitors at no cost all disciplines are on offer but cars must be noise tested and scrutineerd before going on track for testing or maping any times set on Saturday will not count for the main TOTB event

The top Saturday only entrant will get a free golden entry to the main compatition on the Sunday

Pro-drag cars (or those with competition log books) are allowed in our Pro-Drag class only at the discretion of the organisers. Non-road legal cars also fall into this class.
This specific Pro Drag class is open to part tubbed or spaceframe altered cars, ie outright drag only cars, or for those cars that need to run dot marked wrinkle wall tyres. This class of car is generally built purely for drag / top speed runs only. Such cars may run with just one seat fitted, and there is no requirement to have working lights, wipers, horn, and road trim.
TOTB's decision will be final in all cases as to which cars fall into this class.

All vehicles at the event must pass a scrutineering inpsection and the drivers must attend the driver safety briefing prior to the event or you will not be allowed to race.

Any car capable of 9.5s or faster on the 1/4m must be equipped with:

    Full roll cage and Harness

All Trophy /class winning cars will be checked for compliance during and after the event but prior to the trophy presentation. Additional random checks will be made to competitor vehicles during the event to ensure compliance.

Road tyres for class A, B or C must be used with legal tread depth at all times.

Wrinkle wall dot drag tyres will be allowed on all sub 11sec cars

Generally only D.O.T / E-marked road tyres with a road tread depth/pattern are allowed in classes A, B or C, so please get in touch if you have any specific queries regarding legality as a list of acceptable types is available.

Hoosier Drag Radials and Mickey Thompson ‘ET Streets' are permitted on the drag strip only.

Crash helmets are required to compete in all classes, seat belts or harnesses (if fitted) must be worn and arms /l egs must be covered up at all times while driving.
Race suits, boots and gloves are advised for all drivers and are mandatory for Pro-Drag cars and all sub 9.5s 1/4m cars.

Road class Cars must run with 2 front seats fitted, working road trim, ie lights, horn, wipers etc. Those Cars must retain original bulkheads and suspension pickup points.

Pro Drag is specific for competition drag cars and as such competitors should contact us to discuss arrangements.

Any driver or car not complying with the rules may be excluded from the event on the day.

Performance enhancing modifications and Nitrous are allowed!

    Engine is still in bits

FWD is far too slow for TOTB (standard civic type R).

Great news, we are just completing the registration details now for the first four in the team :

    1. Bren
    2. Duncan
    3. EvoAnd
    4. AP2

and then next week after Anglesey we have hopefully another 3 (including me) to enter.

What we really need now though is a few more to help us fill the team, you don't need massive power, a well setup stage 2 or 3 car is enough, you will find it a great learning experience and be a better driver for it, the handling track is as safe an enviroment as you will find with massive run off areas and experienced people on hand to give advice.

We are also looking for a decent FWD car as well please.

That might not be as slow as you think on the handling, most of the FWD runners from previous years tend to be more drag orientated

I'm still interested in doing this but until I can get my turbo back from being rebuilt I just can't commit.

Hope you get it back soon Daz.

We also have some more nearly ready for the team, and a surprise contender that we will have to enter in non road legal, just waiting for organsiers to confirm it is ok.

The S13 gents are making a big effort to get some cars here as well, we can't have Team SXOC without S13's!

Just filling the form in, its asking for vehicle reg. The cars not road legal, no mot, no tax, no number plates. Its not a case of just getting an MOT either, it doesnt have any lights, let alone horn, winscreen washers, cat etc.

    Is it eligible to enter?

    Oops.

It seems that they have a competition for non road legal cars but thats Pro Drag racing. I cant see a mention of non road legal cars entering any other part of the competition. Ive tried phoning the guys there but am getting an anwer machine.

Bren, ignore that, just speak with me and not them, we have an arrangement with the guy running it, and subject to certain limits we can enter cars, we have already discussed your car as one example, and as long as you stick to Time Attack MSA A and B tyres you are ok, plus the other thing I mentioned.

Great news is that our other secret weapon car has been granted entry...
