Cutting out a silencer on a Nur Spec R.

I'm guessing people have cut the silencers out on their Nur Spec Rs.

What were your thoughts on it after doing it?

Also, what size pipe would I need to replace the silencer?

cutting the silencer box out will only lead to permanent deafness

    I imagine it'd sound shit.

Also don't know how so many people have scraping issues, mines not exactly high and the old time it catches is if I go up my girlfriends drive at the wrong angle! My gearbox grounds out on speed humps before the exhaust!

Have you tried putting jubilee clips around the exhaust hangers and tightening them up so they lift the exhaust alittle or buying some quality exhaust mountings from the like of suprpro etc?
Might give you just enough space for clearance rather then making your exhaust much louder than it already will be mate.

    Cheers Aj

Look in my project thread. I've modified mine to have a flat bottom. Didn't make any noticeable difference to the noise.

Tied mine up with steel cable ties and a few large jubilee clips as AJ said and it made a huge difference. Car no longer scrapes on bumps even with 3 passengers.

I went to go see a couple of people today about cutting the bottom of the silencer off and no one seems to want to do it lol.

I got one person saying there's no point doing it and another saying it's too much of a hard job.

That's odd it was pretty easy really. Maybe if you do all the work yourself then just get someone to weld it up? Only need an angle grinder.

I saw loads of S14s at Jap Show and my car was so quiet compared to them all. I just don't want to do it then regret it lol.

I cut the middle box out of mine to inspect and found it was empty !

Had a new one installed in place of it that was twice the length but shallower.
