I've established that they are not waterproof, that's for sure

Ah, so very much like my Sidi "Air" which have a zillion holes in them to let air (and bloody water) through

I have Sidi Roarr and they don't let enough air in, the vents seem to do very little indeed

As I say, they are summer boots. I have sidi rains for when it rains but they're a bit big to chuck in the bag just in case it rains

I was following a horse box today and couldn't get past due to traffic on the other side of the road. I dunno if I was making too much noise or something but the horse decided to whazz out the back door all over the road and my bike. Had to laugh, it had tiny tiny little bits of straw or something in it. I just finished cleaning it off fully

Well I've done something potentially rather daft. Ended up buying a KTM 990 SMT which in itself wouldn't be too daft, but I've a) never ridden one, b) never sat on one and c) not actually even seen the one I've bought in the flesh

Still....what's the worst that could happen???

    BOOM!

    It's an absolute beast.

Twisting the throttle ham fisted is like tying a bungee cord round your neck and jumping off the empire state building; the front wheel sees more clean air than a Swiss conservationist and when you open the taps it's a noise like taking the lid off a 200 gallon bottle of shaken up thunder.

It has no manners and is a total assault of the senses.

But somehow, I still heart it, even if it is trying to kill me.

That looks like a hoot... How does it compare to the likes of a tiger 800/Mt 09?

I am lusting again for a change, but until my house is finished I have no spare cash

Not ridden either, but I'd imagine the Tiger is very civilised and the MT much more civilised than this is even if it's a total wheelie machine in its own right. I kind you not, this thing is like riding a bucking bronco

Much better being more upright, not struggling with right hand bends now.

I've been doing more research on the RC390 and found that they have only sold 180 in this country according to howmanyleft.

    For comparison...

CBR100RR (all variants since 2008) - 7500 odd still registered.
Aprilia RSV4 (all variants) - 650 or so.
KTM RC8R (and variants) - 750 or so.

Does this suggest to you that it is a super rare exotic bike ?

    ...or a turkey ?

Given the OTR retail price is £5,250 and several dealers are offering brand new 2015 models for £3,500, I'm guessing nobody wants them.

I put together a list of upgrade parts that amounted to just a little over £3,500 which would bring the cost of the bike to £7K assuming I snaffled one of these cheap 2015 models.

I'm interested in what you lot think. Am I mad to be even thinking about spaffing £7K on a 400 single that's likely to be hard to sell for £3K next year ?

There is a s/h one on ebay that's already been tricked up for £3,800 but where is the fun in that

Well after a day of constant effort on Sunday, I finally got my knee down. Sounds stupid but I was so happy.
