If there is life in the front and you are happy with the Pilot Sport on the front, why not just fit one on the rear ?

If it was me, I'd fit a matching set of Dunlop Roadsmarts and write off the 3-4K miles the front tyre has still got left in it but, if you are on a budget and you're happy with the old tyre, go with another Pilot Sport on the rear as the front and rear will be worn out at the same time and then you can go with a new matching set.

To me, fitting a more road oriented rear from the same manufacturer as the front could risk stripping you of confidence in the bike for the sake of a couple of quid.

Its really to do with budget mate as need 4 tyres for my car also. I'll do as you say and get another Pilot Sport on the rear and then get a matching set when both are worn. Been out in all conditions with the Pilot Sports and have never lacked confidence in them. Not had the knee down or anything like that but for everyday riding.

Cant seem to find the michelin pilot sports anymore. See their is a new supersport but tread pattern is completley different.

Gilles rearsets now fitted! Also made a custom baffle as 106db was never going to pass the MOT so its now down to a more friendly 76! Fingers crossed for the MOT

I haven't ridden a motorcycle in over 4 months due to a shoulder injury and it's ****ing doing my head in. How did it become such an important thing to do?!

I haven't ridden a motorcycle in over 4 months due to it being cold, wet, salty and slippy and having no tax on the bike

    Well, at least I'm honest

I did take the covers off it the other day and think "Not long now"

Does anyone know what is involved with getting a cat c or d bike on the road? Im thinking about getting a cheapo bodging it back togther and using that for the summer. I see manky vfr800's are fairly cheap, ideally i would like a aprilia falco but dont think i can afford one this year.

    What is your budget ?

I'd avoid anything that is CAT C or D as anything that has obviously been dropped is probably bent and won't ride right.

Better to get something that isn't popular than something that's fecked.

VFRs hold their money well even when they are dogs for some reason.

A CBR600F can be had for that sort of money or a Thundercat.

What style of bike are you after ?

If you want a naked, an old Bandit or a Hornet can also be had for that sort of money especially if you are prepared to buy now before the warmer weather starts.

Grey imports are another way of getting a cheap bike and, as long as you don't pick anything too weird, parts can still be had for them.

There's no VIC check for motorcycles so it's much more straight forward than cars - all it needs is an mot
