I've broken the Buggy of Mild Discomfort :(

Well, spent today working on it since 8am, and finally sorted all it's issues out, it's now got much better brakes, better gearchange, all the suspension bushes have been stripped and regreased so they don't stick any more, the front suspension has been overhauled and softened slightly, and the back lifted up 1" so she now turns in properly, it's got a nice cold air intake, some scoops picking the airflow up off the doors to cool the ex. manifold on one side and the oil cooler on the other, and a new alternator as the old one wasn't charging any more. Sorted!

Spent 15 minutes on the test track quite happy with it at last, bar a tiny, tiny bit of clutch slip after a gearchange.

Fetched it back to the workshop, adjusted the clutch slightly, bingo, no more slip.
Back to the test track, give it some welly, change into 4th gear and 'BANG', snapped the input shaft clean off the gearbox.

Should have left the clutch slipping!

We've got to get the engine/rear frame and 'box out yet to see if there's any other damage

Right, got a new gearbox coming, but it's done the splines on one of the driveshafts too, which are custom-made and cost a bomb, so I'm even more unhappy now!

    Here ya go:

    Happy?

    Struggling, but we'll see.

How about the car in two of it's more natural poses - broken:

Go on then, have some mud, old one though:

Broken is not good Good luck in getting down here

Edit , that buggy reminds me of a former british champions but I can't remember his bloody name (old age comes to us all)

The racer wasn't pretty The centre spar of the rollcage sprung 3" out of place when it got cut up and the driver and navigator walked away uninjured The spaceframe did it's job well IIRC it was number 6 of the allard spaceframes and the crash was at west harptree near bristol

Something like that would make me quit the sport forever Fairplay to the spaceframe standing up to it tho
